Stone Bank School
Reaching Out~ December 16, 2016
From the Principal
Dear Stone Bank Families:
The Winter Break is almost here! I’d like to wish our families a wonderful holiday season and a restful winter break. Hopefully, you were able to join us at one of our recent holiday programs! It is always fun to see the students perform and showcase some of their talents.
It has been a busy first half of the year at Stone Bank. Our students are working so hard. It has been so exciting to see them immersed in reading as we have implemented our new reading program. Hopefully, you are seeing that at home as well. Try to remind your child to do a few minutes of reading each day over the break. Teachers are continually trying to build their classroom libraries. (Donations of books, or gift certificates to purchase new books would be a welcomed holiday gift for your child’s teacher if you are looking for ideas!)
Recently, I sent home an email about our state report card results. The School Board and I were so pleased with our results of “Significantly Exceeding Expectations.” A very small portion of schools across the state reached that same level of achievement. Please join me in congratulating our staff on this accomplishment the next time you visit us. We are truly lucky to have a group of top-notch educators at our school.
Sincerely,
Lynn Davies

Sudent Council
We have concluded one our first projects of the year, "Soul Hope." 50 pair of shoe uppers were sent to Uganda. The amount of jeans that were donated was amazing. A BIG thank you to the Student Council and the 5th-8th grade volunteers who were able to help put together this successful event.
"Fleece" Navidad! In advance of our Project Linus blanket making event in February, the student council would like to let you know that we are currently collecting fleece pieces for blankets. Please feel free to take advantage of winter fleece sales. You may donate your fleece pieces at the front office. Pieces that are 1 1/2 yards are perfect.
Thank you
The Stone Bank Booster club ran the 6th grade girls basketball tournament on Dec. 5th through Dec. 10th.
The tournament could not have run so smoothly without the efforts of the Stone Bank Booster Club. I would first like to mention a few people who were instrumental in making this week a success. Mary Jo Dambeck did a great job taking care of all the concessions and making sure there was enough for the whole week. Heather Smith helped with providing a volunteer website, making it easy for people to sign up to volunteer. I would also like to send a special thank you to Ron and Maria Sowinski. Ron organized the gym all week, while Maria put together the program and helped with both concessions and admissions at various times. These people mentioned above have provided years of service to the Booster Club. I am very grateful for the work you all put in this week!!
Thanks go out to all of you that volunteered your time to help in the kitchen, with concessions, admisssions, and with clean up. These people are Kevin Mattson, Jeff Callen, Mary Rzepiejewski, Lynne Hendee, Teresa Nettesheim-Hackett, and Cathy Taubenheim. There are many families that I would also like to thank as they also invested their time. They are the Parsons, Lamberts, Malisons, Mckennas, Goebels, Jacksons, Brunners, and the Travers. I would also like to thank the Reuteman family for the wonderful brats that were prepared for all week and were such a big hit. Thank you all very much.
Thanks go out to Lynn Korom for handling the everyday financials as well as Karrie Beth as she helped in the gym as well as in the office. I would also like to thank Samantha and Jonathan Witter, Aleah Travers, Vincent Salamone and Emily Dvorak for their work as scorekeepers during the week.
It takes the help of many good people and I truly appreciate all the help that was there for each day!!!
Sincerely,
Dan Green
