Lockport City School District
COVID-19 Update
Summer Guidance Effective Monday, July 12, 2021
Last week, the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) announced that due to low rates of COVID-19 transmission, school districts conducting summer programs for students may revise their face mask policies to be consistent with those available in the document “INTERIM GUIDANCE FOR CHILD CARE, DAY CAMP, AND OVERNIGHT CAMP PROGRAMS DURING THE COVID-19 PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY” (click to view).
Therefore, the Lockport City School District will be implementing the following procedures regarding face coverings throughout the summer program, or until further notice.
Face coverings for staff in direct contact with students and students:
Face coverings may be removed by vaccinated and unvaccinated staff and students once seated indoors. A staff member or student always has the option of wearing a face covering, if they wish to do so.
Face coverings must be worn by vaccinated and unvaccinated persons on busses and whenever moving inside buildings.
Staff and students are not required to wear a face covering when outdoors.
Face coverings for staff not in direct contact with students:
Unvaccinated staff not in direct contact with students must wear a face covering at all times while indoors, except when alone in their workspace.
Vaccinated staff not in direct contact with students may choose not to wear a face covering indoors, but may if they wish to do so.
We will also continue to implement the following mitigation measures during our summer programming:
Maximize the physical distance between students based on the number of children in each class and the size of the instructional space.
If a staff member or student is not feeling well or has any symptoms consistent with COVID-19, please stay home.
Thorough cleaning of all spaces will continue to be completed daily.
Daily reporting to the COVID-19 Report Card Dashboard is no longer required, however daily screening of staff and students will continue including temperature checks.
School districts are still waiting for guidance from the New York State Education Department (NYSED) and the New York State Department of Health for the 2021-2022 school year. Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we continue to manage the pandemic.
Stay safe and be well.
