Winter Program

Dear Broadwater families:

That most wonderful time of year is approaching! It’s time to mark your calendars for our annual winter concert. While it will not be exactly like it has in past years due to COVID-19 protocols and safety measures, I am excited to say that we will have a concert this year.

The concert will be recorded, then posted online for families to view. At this time, we are undecided on where we will post the video, but it will either be on YouTube (we’ll send the link out) or on the Broadwater Elementary website. We will be recording the student performances on December 9th and will have the video ready for viewing by the end of the day on December 10th. (If you declined to have your student in photos or videos at school, Ms. Boedecker will get in touch with you regarding the concert recording.)

Even though we cannot have an in-person audience, this is still a very special day for our students. The kindergarteners and first graders have never given a concert before! The second graders were in kindergarten the last time we were able to have a concert! That blows my mind! So, to help make this day special and memorable for everyone, we ask that all students dress up for the recording day, December 9th. They are welcome to wear their holiday dress clothes on this day. Please try to avoid faded blue jeans, sweats, and t-shirts with pictures on them. The better the students look, the better they feel about themselves and the better they will perform. An example of dressing up appropriately might be dark black jeans and a nice polo or button down shirt. Or maybe it’s leggings and a dress. Please don’t hesitate to contact Ms. Skogley or your student’s classroom teacher if you have questions about this.

We are also working with our Parent Council on sending home a special treat for the Friday night viewing of our concert! Each Broadwater student will be getting a packet of hot cocoa and a candy cane to take home with them. We encourage you to make some cocoa and watch the concert as a family on Friday night. No better family time than snuggling up to watch a concert!

We are very excited to present a concert for you again this year, even if it has to be on video. More details on where the video will be posted will be sent out once a decision is made.

Happy music making!

Ms. Skogley
