Harvest Party Information
We are excited to be able to host classroom parties this year! This is more than we were able to do last year. To mitigate the spread of COVID, all elementary schools will be following these guidelines:
The Fall Harvest Party celebration will not include costumes for staff and students. There are several reasons behind this decision. One, students change into their costumes at school and we cannot maintain safe distancing during that process. Also students typically switch classrooms and/or use the restrooms to change. This process would impede our ability to conduct accurate contact tracing. Finally, donning costumes might require the removal of masks, which is not a safe practice with unvaccinated students.
Food will not be consumed at the parties. Some goody bags may be sent home, depending on the planning done by room parents. Food will be selected according to reported allergies in the classroom.
Due to limited volunteers this year, GRE will have classroom teachers facilitate the parties. The room parents will work with the teachers to plan and coordinate activities.
I realize that this is less than ideal and COVID continues to affect traditional school activities. However, I’m confident that our wonderful teachers and room parents can still make the classroom parties fun and exciting.
Thanks,
Pete Kurty, Ed. D
Principal

Family Conferences are Coming - Virtually
For the purpose of health/safety as well as family convenience, conferences will be virtual again this year. The official conference evenings will be October 13th & 21st. Cramming all conferences into a two evening window can often make them feel rushed. Therefore, in addition to those dedicated two evenings, we will have a month and a half long window of time for each family to have a conference with the teacher. Teachers will reach out to families to schedule a conference time to be scheduled between October 4th through November 23rd.
During conferences, your child’s teacher will address three main criteria:
What I know about your child as a learner and a person
Evidence of ways I’ve gotten to know your child (formal and informal data)
Next instructional steps for instruction
If you have specific questions about your child that you want the teacher to prepare for and address within the allotted time, please reach out to let them know.
