BACK TO SCHOOL WEEK REMINDER FROM PRINCIPAL ANDERSON
**All students must attend Back-To-School week to receive their Glenbard East ID card and have their yearbook photo taken. If they are unable to attend, they will be required to secure their ID card on the first day of school and will likely miss class time.
Students are only permitted to take part in Back-to-School Week during their scheduled time. All returning students are expected to bring their iPad for a readiness inspection. Software updates should be run in advance.
Remember to send your student with a form of payment for classroom materials for any past due fees. Check, cash or Visa/MasterCard are accepted. Please make checks payable to Glenbard East High School - students will fill in the amount owed and will receive a receipt for their purchase.
PICTURES: Student ID photos taken during Back-to-School Days and will also be used as your student’s yearbook picture. Students should dress neatly and in good taste.
STUDENT ID REQUIREMENTS: Students will be required to carry, and present upon request, their student ID to any Glenbard staff member. Student IDs are required for entry to the building, to get on the bus, lunch purchase, library and lab check in, etc.
FRESHMAN ORIENTATION INFORMATION
Orientation will occur on Friday, August 5, and will begin promptly at 7:30 A.M. Please make sure your student brings his/her schedule on Orientation Day so that our Link Mentors can help them locate their classrooms. Your student is encouraged not to bring backpacks, purses or other like items as the day is quite active. Because the day is active, please make sure that your student wears comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement.
This is a student only function so we encourage you to let your child attend on her or his own.
HEALTH AND WELLNESS PROTOCOLS FOR 2022-23 SCHOOL YEAR
We continue our commitment to maintaining health and wellness in school. As we embark on a new school year, please review the items noted below.
Health Reporting Form
Reminder: use our Health Reporting Form to report school health-related issues and COVID specific information.
Academic Supports
If a student cannot be present in class due to illness, the following academic supports are available:
- Students will be provided instructional materials, including textbooks and novels, online so students can access them with their iPad while away from school.
- We provide extra instructional resources for students who are away from school, including extra videos and review materials.
- Tutoring sessions are available with teachers as needed via Zoom.
- Buildings provide additional tutoring resources, including peer-tutoring and department-specific tutoring.
- We provide extended time for assessments, flexibility with due dates
- If school is closed due to an emergency, we have an approved E-Learning plan in place.
Response to COVID-19 cases
A student is excluded from school if COVID-19 positive, symptomatic or confirmed close contact when not fully vaccinated. Parents/guardians may choose to share their students’ proof of vaccination status with the school nurse as it may affect recommendations related to COVID-19.
Facilities/Mitigation plans include:
- Healthy ventilation/air quality in schools.
- Posting notice of the current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) county level and associated recommendations at building main entrances.
- Relaying CDC recommendations and precautions, which are dependent on the Community COVID-19 Level.
It is highly recommended that families visit this site to order free at-home test kits.
Health and Wellness Resource
The 2022-23 Health and Wellness webpage will be launched soon. We will let you know when the page is available and encourage you to check it for important health, wellness and COVID-related resources.
