KAES Keenections
The weekly newsletter for Keene Adventist Elementary School
November 10, 2023
Take some time today to thank a veteran. Students learned today about the sacrifices so many have made so that we can live in this blessed country.
Lots of ups and downs.
Today middle school students enjoyed the trip they earned to Urban Air. Students had fun jumping on the trampolines, dunking basketballs, driving bumper cars and climbing the walls.
Holiday Season is Here
Next week is our last week before Thanksgiving break and then we only have a few weeks before Christmas break and our second quarter ends. It all happens fast. Please take time to look over the calendar and all the events, games and programs that are scheduled.
3rd grade runs 8th grade elections on Nov. 7.
Once again our 3rd grade elections board ran a successful elections day. Eighth grade was able to run a campaign for different class offices and then place their vote for student government. Congratulations to all the candidates and good luck to the winners as now the hard work begins.
The Young Peacemaker - Week 10
Lesson 10
βHe who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity.β (Prov. 21:23)
(The big Idea) Think before you speak.
(The main points)
1. Sending messages is important.
We communicate when we send or receive messages.
One of the main purposes of communication is to help others understand you better and for you to understand them.
Another purpose for communication is to build others up.
2. Verbal and nonverbal communication
Verbal communication means that you use words, tone of voice, or sounds to send messages.
A respectful way to communicate your thoughts, feelings, needs and desires is by using βI messages.β
Nonverbal communication means that you send messages using actions, gestures, and facial expressions.
Examples of nonverbal communication: eye contact, body posture, facial expressions, gestures
3. What to communicate:
What we think
What we believe
How we feel
What we need
What we want
What we see
Questions we have
Our experiences
Thanks and appreciation
Confession and confrontation
We choose what we say, and how we say it.
To confront others means that you try to help them understand how their choices have affected you or someone else.
4. Effective communication
Respectful communication is good and pleases the Lord.
Disrespectful communication is sinful and often causes conflict.
