Playing math games with children can be a fun, developmentally appropriate way to spark understanding of big mathematical ideas. Math games also support children’s mathematical habits of mind—and key school readiness skills, such as problem solving, puzzling, and perseverance. When we watch and listen to how children play math games, we learn a lot about the mathematics they already know and what they’re ready to learn. Connecting Home and School:
Morning Routines
Children will be listening stories about the body and how it moves. Ask your child to tell you about the things he/she does each morning like the body parts they are using to brush their teeth and to get dressed. Prompt your child to use words first, next and last.
Reading Together
Gather books about the body and how it moves. Talk with your child about what is in the pictures and explain. Read with your child.
