Get Involved

Our Goal is to have every family volunteer 10 hours this year and participate in helping with some of our planned events!

We are looking for volunteers with tiling experience that could help install a tile mural that the students worked on last year. The mural will be indoors and is about 8'x5'. If you or someone you know could help with the tools and installation please contact the art teacher, Mrs. Redd at mredd@advantagearts.org

Our First Event is Advantage Arts Academy's Fall Carnival on October 28th. Each Grade Level will be reaching out to parents for candy and prize donations.

Center Stage

Kinder Builds A Community

In Kindergarten we have been learning about the different places in our community. Students designed and decorated a building that is part of the community, like a house, restaurant, school, gas station, police station, or hospital. Next week we will make our buildings stand up and put them together to create a class community. We've been practicing our cutting and gluing skills throughout this project.

2nd Grade Creates Camouflage

In second grade we finished up our camouflaged creature project. Can you find the creatures blending into the background in these pictures? The students loved getting to create a pattern with oil pastels and then trying to blend their creature into the background.

4th Grade Buffalo Hide Paintings

In fourth grade we learned about the American Indians that live in Utah. We looked at examples of artworks from American Indian culture, including petroglyphs and buffalo hide paintings. Often, buffalo hide paintings told a story or a person's history, so we made our own paintings based on that style. We crumpled up brown paper to make it look like a buffalo hide and designed different symbols to help tell our own life history. This project was a lot of fun and helped us develop new skills.
