Live United
To Our Terrific Trantwood Team!
I am looking forward to coordinating some fun here in the building and supporting you with your decision regarding the United Way Campaign. This is the link to the online portal:
I will be happy to walk you through it. I completed it in about 10 minutes. With my help it will take you only 5 minutes! (The tricky part was finding the charities I wanted.) Come to my room any afternoon. I’m here until at least 3:30 every day.
We can accept cash or checks; however, checks should be made payable to: “United Way SHR.”
Tricia Gray

Artwork submissions must be emailed in a high-resolution (300 dpi+) image by Nov. 11 to Debbie.Griffey@vbschools.com. Please include in the email: • the title of the artwork and a brief description of the piece (25 word maximum); and • the name of the artist, place of work in VBCPS and their professional title.
Approved images will be posted online from Nov. 27–Dec. 11 for public voting to select the winning 2020 Commemorative Print. The winning piece will be announced at the Dec. 12 Teacher Grants Improve Futures (TGIF) celebration, hosted by the Foundation, to recognize teachers receiving 2020 Schoolwide, Innovative Learning and School + Community Super Grants.
Each artist whose artwork is included in the Commemorative Print vote will be invited to TGIF and may bring one guest to attend the Dec. 12 event at the Sandler Center (6–8 p.m.). Thank you for sharing these opportunities made available through the Virginia Beach Education Foundation. For more information, email Debbie Griffey or call 263.1069.
INQUIRY DESIGN MODEL - VA STUDIES
Various units in the Virginia Studies curriculum will begin to feature in-depth inquiry opportunities developed as part of the Virginia Studies Inquiry Collaborative, which took place in June and included teachers from VBCPS, Fairfax, Albemarle and Charlottesville City Public Schools, Virginia museum experts and John Lee of C3 Teachers (http://www.c3teachers.org) during the summer of 2019. These new learning events will be featured in the ‘Menu of Learning Opportunities’ within grades 4 and 5 Virginia Studies units. These inquiries are being field tested by the participating school divisions in the 2019-2020 school year and are not required parts of the curriculum. Each inquiry features an overview video of the C3 Framework developed for VBCPS teachers.
