WHAT A WONDERFUL CELEBRATION FOR CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK!
Last Sunday, kicked off Catholic Schools week with the 10:00am mass where students were invited to attend in their dress uniform. There was a great turn out.
On Monday, the Micah 6:8 Program lead flag and prayer for the school and the latest edition of the Micah Minute was shown to students, staff, parents and grandparents. We wanted to share the video with you, and we hope you enjoy it.
As always, we appreciate your continued prayers and support of our special program.

February 11, 2023 ~ The Diocesan Middle School Youth Rally Returns!
This year's Rally is at Cristo Rey Saint Viator High School in North Las Vegas. We are limited to 400 participants so make sure to register early.
We are excited to welcome Bernini Magic to open and close our Rally. Giancarlo Bernini brilliantly combines the truths of our faith with spectacular magic. In addition, we will have three breakout sessions focusing on Spirituality, Service and a fun activity to help the kids remember the message for the day.
Drop off begins when the doors open at 9am for sign-in and a little snack in the Commons. We ask all participants to bring a refillable water bottle with them.Parents can pick up their middles schoolers beginning at 12:30 pm when the event ends.
There is a nominal cost of $10 per youth which will be billed to the parish after the event. Only Youth Ministers or their designate can access this sign up and are responsible for collecting and submitting all necessary forms. Individuals, whether youth or parent, cannot sign up to participate outside of their parish group.
In the sign up above, please put each participant's name in one slot, with the Parish Abbreviated, and the grade number for every individual you have attending.-Example: (DavidH, SFA, 8th) or (DavidH, SFA, Chaperone)
ATTENTION PARENTS!!!
THE ANNUAL ST. VIATOR SCHOOL FOUNDATION DINNER
For 34 years the St. Viator School Foundation financed capital improvement projects through one fundraiser each year - our Annual Dinner & Auction. Proceeds from our last event financed student iPads, Covid improvements, which included all new water fountains, safety plexiglass, and much more. The Foundation also financed our beautiful new library!
Each year, the Foundation honors individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service to the St. Viator Community. On February 25, 2023, we proudly welcome new members to our Hall of Fame:
Laura & Rene Alcaraz, Rosy & Paul Hartz and Christa & Todd Morse. Mark your calendar and join the celebration for a fabulous fun evening.

GRATITUDE
My mom is 86 years young, and she’s given me some really great advice throughout the years. But the most consistent words she has shared with me have been, “Monica, you have to be grateful.” Sounds great, right? However, she always gave me this advice during the most difficult times in my life. When I wanted her to feel sorry for me, she refused and just reminded me to be grateful. I must admit, I used to get upset when I heard those words because I didn’t feel heard or seen by her. Now I realize my mom was so far ahead of the game and I couldn’t see it at the time.
It seems science has finally caught up to my mother and studies are now conducted on how significantly a gratitude practice impacts mental health. It seems that people who access gratitude daily show significantly higher levels of happiness and lower levels of depression within three weeks of beginning the practice. These levels of happiness can last up to six months after ending a practice.
Now, I know what you’re thinking. “Monica, REAL things are happening in my life right now. Bad things really happen in the world. Jump off of your gratitude cloud and join the real world!” I get it and I hear you. However, the concept of gratitude is about strengthening our positive recall even when things are dark around us. It doesn’t negate the bad, it STRENGTHENS the good. We are not ignoring negative emotions; we are magnifying the positive emotions. This is where the power to choose is in our hands.
We may not be able to choose all of the things we endure, but we do have the choice to be grateful for the positive. It’s called resilience, and YOU are resilient.
Begin with simple things: start a gratitude list (daily), speak words of gratitude to those you love (and maybe the difficult people as well), write a weekly gratitude letter to yourself. The benefits of this are reported to be a healthier immune system, a calmer nervous system, a grateful body, and an increase in positive emotions. Report back and let me know how it goes!
With gratitude, 😊
Monica
