Mrs. Stasney's 3rd Grade Newsletter
For the week of January 21st
Practice STAAR Test
3rd grade is the first year for state-mandated standardized testing, so this is a new experience for the students. They have become accustomed to taking CUAs, but those are usually only 10-14 questions in length and take less than 45 minutes to complete. The real test is much longer and the students have 4 hours to take it.
On Wednesday, the students will get their first taste of what this is going to be like it. The test will be difficult for them because it will have questions over some concepts we have not covered yet (fractions, area, perimeter). The hardest part for the students, however, will be sitting and testing for 4 hours.
There is not much you can do to prepare your child except make sure they have a good night's sleep and a healthy breakfast!
