Benefield Parent Newsletter

Welcome Back!
Dear Parents,
We are off to a great start of the 2017-2018 school year. Our first week of school was awesome. Our little ones are getting used to the building while our returning students are helping new students learn the Benefield way.
It continues to be an honor and privilege to serve as the principal of such an exemplary and student centered learning community. I hope you can join us for Curriculum Night on August 29 for 3rd-5th grade and August 31 for Kindergarten-2nd grade. Curriculum Night hours are 6:00-8:00 p.m.
On behalf of the Benefield Elementary faculty and staff, I thank you for trusting us with your amazing children. In return, we promise to do our very best to teach them and keep them safe.
Please keep reading to find out what is going on in and around Benefield.
Proud to be your principal,
Mrs. Stevens
CHICK-FIL-A SPIRIT NIGHT--THURSDAY, AUGUST 17
Please join us for our Chick-Fil-A Back-to-School Spirit Night this Thursday, 5-8 p.m. The classroom with the most student sign-ins will receive a special treat from Chick-Fil-A and a popcorn party.
Arrival and dismissal process
Monday, August 21, 2017
Safety is always a top priority; therefore, we will take all precautionary measures to make this exciting experience both safe and enjoyable for everyone. To ensure the safety of our younger students, Discovery Cluster ES students in grades K-2 will watch the solar eclipse via live streaming on the web. If you are concerned about your child not having the opportunity to watch the solar eclipse live outside at school, you may check them out to view it with you at home. We would ask these checkouts to occur prior to 1:30 p.m.
Dismissal will be at 4:15 p.m. for car riders, day care and YMCA students at Benefield. Bus dismissal will start at 4:20 p.m.
School Messenger
We are implementing SchoolMessenger as a notification system at Benefield and within the district. On Wednesday, August 16, Gwinnett County Public Schools will send a text message to the cell phone number you provided during registration. It will ask you if you would like to opt in to receive school and district messages via text. For example, if school is closing for winter weather, you will receive a text message telling you school is closing.
Are you getting text messages from Benefield?
