COUNSELING CORNER

Success Habit of the Week

Persisting

What is it? – Sticking to a task even when you want to give up.

What does it sound like? – “I think I can; hang in there; keep at it; you can do it!”

What does it look like? – Attending even with distractions. Trying again.

What does it feel like? – Even though I’d like to quit, I have the strength to continue.

Some students give up when they don’t know the answer immediately. They crumble up their paper, or say, “it’s too hard, I can’t do this!”

Sometimes they write down any answer or hurry through their work, to “get it done”. Students with the habit of persisting have a method for analyzing the problem, they know how to begin. They consider the steps that need to be performed and what data or information they need to accomplish the task. They are able to sustain a problem solving process over time. They are comfortable with new challenges.

Hello Eagle Family,

It's SOOAARRRIFIC Attendance Counts time!!!

Every week one student from every grade level will have a chance to win a prize for being in school, on time, and in their seat ready to learn! Their parent and or guardian will also receive a certificate of appreciation and an opportunity to win a prize in our monthly drawing for valuing our childrens' education.

You never know when your name might be called.....

FAIRVIEW OPERATING PROCEDURES

Below are a few reminders to help keep Fairview running smoothly on a daily basis:

  • Our school day begins at 7:40 am which means students should be in their seats and ready to learn no later than 7:35.
  • Breakfast and lunch will be offered at no charge again this year. Breakfast ends at 7:35 am.
  • Students are tardy at 7:35
  • Arrival time is from 7:05- 7:35. At 7:35 the front doors begin to close and school-wide announcements are made. Please get into the carpool line as early as possible. When students are tardy this disrupts instruction.
  • Please review our Parent/ Student handbook for the carpool route and other important information including our discipline procedures. Please review the discipline handbook with your child to ensure that he or she is aware of the behavior expectations at school.
  • Please use the Student Agendas as a means of communicating with your child's teacher(s).
  • Please review and send back your child's Purple Folder every week.
  • No cars should travel down Fairview Road to join the carpool line at any time. Please stay in a single file carpool line to drop off and exit the parking lot.
  • Our custodians and teachers are cleaning and sanitizing consistently to help the school environment germ free.
  • If your child is ill, please keep them at home until they are better. Please note that any student who has suffered from fever, diarrhea, and or vomiting must stay home for 24 hours afterward. Students may return, symptom free without medication, after the 24 hour period.
If you, your child, or any other family member tests positive for Covid-19, please call the school to inform our school nurse as well as your child's teacher. Thank you for keeping us abreast of any Covid-19 related exposures your children have outside of school and for quarantining them for safety.
