Teachers will sign their classes up for the program and set monthly reading goals. When students meet their goal, they will be recognized with a Reading Award Certificate, good for a free one-topping Personal Pan Pizza®.

Academic Success Habit of the Month
Developed by longtime educators Arthur L. Costa and Bena Kallick, Habits of Mind are 16 characteristics that intelligent people use to approach challenges they can’t immediately solve. They are learned tendencies that when practiced until they become habits can make the difference between struggle and success.
Thinking About Our Thinking or Metacognition.
“When the mind is thinking it is talking to itself.” Metacognition is our ability to plan a strategy for producing what information is needed.
Developing a plan of action
Maintaining that plan in mind over a period of time
Reflecting back on your plan and
Evaluating the plan upon its completion.

Attendance
FAIRVIEW OPERATING PROCEDURES
Below are a few reminders to help keep Fairview running smoothly on a daily basis:
- Our school day begins at 7:40 am which means students should be in their seats and ready to learn no later than 7:35.
- Breakfast and lunch will be offered at no charge again this year. Breakfast ends at 7:35 am.
- Students are tardy at 7:40. Any student who is tardy for school must be signed into school by the adult who brought the child to school. The child will then receive his or her tardy pass
- Arrival time is from 7:05- 7:35. At 7:35 the front doors begin to close and school-wide announcements are made. Please get into the carpool line as early as possible. When students are tardy this disrupts instruction.
- Please review our Parent/ Student handbook for the carpool route and other important information including our discipline procedures. Please review the discipline handbook with your child to ensure that he or she is aware of the behavior expectations at school.
- Please use the Student Agendas as a means of communicating with your child's teacher(s).
- WEEKLY FOLDERS. Please review and send back your child's Purple Folder every week. Each child in grades K-5 will receive a folder which is sent home weekly. The purpose of the folder is to help students organize communication papers that go home from the school regarding school activities, PTO communication, and work completed by your child. Please check the folder weekly and return it to school the next morning.
- No cars should travel down Fairview Road to join the carpool line at any time. Please stay in a single file carpool line to drop off and exit the parking lot.
- Our custodians and teachers are cleaning and sanitizing consistently to help the school environment germ free.
- If your child is ill, please keep them at home until they are better. Please note that any student who has suffered from fever, diarrhea, and or vomiting must stay home for 24 hours afterward. Students may return, symptom free without medication, after the 24 hour period.
