Dear South School Families:
Happy Fall! As we head into October, there are many activities and events scheduled for students, staff, and families.
As the temperature and colors on the trees change, we continue to provide opportunities for students to be outside. Please make sure your child dresses appropriately for the weather, daily.
If your child needs further assistance or has a question regarding classwork, they can attend their teacher's "Office Hours" which takes place after school. Office Hours replaces our "11th Hour" from previous school years. Office Hours is a time for students to ask teachers clarifying questions, makeup school work from an absence, and/or provides a quiet place for students to work on their own when arrangements are made in advance, with the teacher. To attend a teacher's Office Hour, students must schedule the meeting ahead of time with their teachers. Please note, Office Hours are not a 1:1 tutoring session nor an additional class period for students. Students will not be placed in Office Hours as an intervention if a student falls behind on their work.
In this newsletter, you will see a parent-teacher conference section. Please take the time to read all of the information. South's parent-teacher conferences will take place on October 20th and 21st. We will be using a sign-up scheduling program called PTC Wizard. Parents should have received an email with their login information, and will be able to start scheduling conferences on October 3, 2022.
You will find more specific details below.
Have a great weekend!

Attention Sixth Grade and New Students’ Parents
All 6th graders and new students should have received their AHSD25 issued Chromebooks. The last step in the process is for parents/guardians to fill out the user agreement form.
This technology agreement is to signify that the child and parent/guardian are fully responsible for maintaining any technology device provided by the school district as indicated in the school technology inventory. This form must be filled out by the student’s parent or guardian. Arlington Heights School District 25 (AHSD25) is not responsible for any loss or damage done to the device while in possession of the student. If loss or damage occurs, the student and parent or guardian are responsible for the repair or replacement of the device (please see optional insurance information below).
If the technology has a failure of an internal part, it is covered by a warranty and will be repaired at no cost. Thank you!
