I'm so excited to begin this school year with you!

My name is Ali and I'm your technology teacher.

Dear Students and Parents,

I'm so excited to begin another school year at Q300. If you're new to the school, welcome! If you're returning, welcome back! I hope you're having a great summer. While there's still a few weeks of summer fun ahead, I wanted to get a head start on saying hello and introducing myself to the newest members of our wonderful learning community.

My name is Alison Lisberger but at school, I'm known as Ali or Ms. Ali. I teach technology at the lower division. I've been teaching for 13 years. I started off as a special education teacher and have since moved to technology. Throughout my career, I have been particularly interested in integrating technology in the classroom. I received my Master's in Educational Technology from Long Island University and was excited to accept a position here at Q300 because of the principles in which this school was founded on. I believe strongly in our core values: Inquiry, Inclusion and Responsibility. In my class, students will engage in active learning by thinking critically, creatively, and reflectively. They will work together, build relationships and demonstrate responsibility by being self-disciplined, using self-control, being accountable for their actions and being trustworthy. All this is accomplished in a fun and engaging way.

I've maintained a website for many years but used it in different capacities. This year, my goal is to update it weekly and use it to keep parents informed of what we're learning as well as share student work. I'd also like to have students contribute to the content that is posted. For example, I'd love to have students interview staff members and write a blog post about it.

This summer I've been working hard to develop a new curriculum. In the past, the majority of our focus was solely computer science. While this will still be a focus, we've expanded to other aspects of technology such as podcasting, video production, keyboarding, blogging and more! I'm so excited and can't wait to unveil more details soon.

In the meantime, enjoy the rest of the summer! I'm looking forward to getting to know you this year and learning together.
