Summer Launch
Called Summer Launch, it will include both academic and enrichment activities (STEM, arts, and more), and all courses will have a math or literary focus.
Registration started May 17 and ends June 4th. Parents will find all the information they need at www.fwisd.org/summerlaunch.
Field Day 2021
This year, we would like to provide an opportunity for our students to enjoy some field day activities. We are planning to give each grade level several hours on the field to participate and compete with each other as a grade level. Please understand that this will not be a parent event. We are following district guidelines for social distancing and visitors on campus. We will inform you if those guidelines change.
Students may have the opportunity to purchase snacks during those days as a fundraiser for PTA. Usually students bring between $5.00-$10.00 to buy snacks. Again, this is optional for students to enjoy and it helps raise money for student programs which are funded through PTA.
- 8th: PK Field Day
- 9th: Kinder and 3rd grade Field Day
- 10th: 1st grade and 4th grade Field Day
- 11th: 2nd grade and 5th grade Field Day
New Covid Guidelines
- For students 12 years and older and employees who are fully vaccinated, meaning you have completed both doses of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines, or the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, social distancing requirements and masks are now optional.
- For students under 12 years old, masks are still required indoors but are optional when outdoors.
- This guidance applies to Fort Worth ISD facilities and school buses.
Thank you for continuing to keep our community healthy and safe.
How should FWISD spend the ESSER funds?
Chromebook Care
Student device repairs have steadily increased throughout the spring semester resulting in a
backlog of over 1,000 student devices in repair at the FWISD Support Warehouse. The large number of repairs causes issues with student device availability. Please remind your child to treat their device with care while at home and at school.
Best practices regarding Chromebooks:
- Nothing should be placed between the keyboard and the screen when a device is closed to avoid cracked screens.
- Devices need to be opened and closed with care to prevent hinge damage.
- Chromebooks should be kept in padded cases, not in backpacks between books.
- Students should not eat or drink near any devices. Damage from crumbs and liquids should be avoided.
Charging:
Chromebooks should not be charging overnight. They completely charge after 30 minutes and should last about 2-3 day before needing to be charged again. Once the charge is low, then they should charge it again. When bringing Chromebooks to school they should be charged completely. If students bring their chargers to school, please ensure the charger has the student's name on it. ALL students pk-5th have an assigned district chromebook, so if you have not picked one up for you child, contact your child’s teacher so we can have It ready in the office.
Cases:
All in-person learners with a Chromebook should have case to protect the Chromebooks. Chromebooks should not be brought to school without a case. If your child does not have a case, let us know.
More information concerning student device care can be found in the DiGiN Device Handbook Website: http://bit.ly/DiGiNWS A video showing Chromebook care is included on the following page of the DiGiN Handbook: https://sites.google.com/view/diginhandbook/device-management/student-fees?authuser=0
