Paws Pride!

This week our PAWS Pride lesson focused on conflict resolution. The students discussed some simple rules to solve a problem and watched a short video on what can happen if these steps aren't followed. The activities will allow the students an ability to prevent, manage and resolve interpersonal conflicts in constructive ways.

This week we will begin Unit 2. We are reading the story At the Beach.

Big Question of the Week ~ Why is honesty important?

Reading Skill ~ Compare and Contrast

Reading Strategy ~ Visualize

Grammar Focus~Regular and Irregular Plural Nouns

Word Analysis~ Spanish Word Origin

Literary Term~ Imagery

Vocabulary Focus~Unfamiliar Words

Genre~ Realistic Fiction

Spelling Focus~Digraphs th, sh, ch, ph

*Spelling and Weekly test will be on Friday

This week we will begin Topic 3. This topic provides the development with understanding that the students need to fluently multiply multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm. Students will not be using past methods such as lattice and partial products. The Topic 3 test is tentatively set for November 3rd.

This week in science the students will investigate: What are the parts of a controlled experiment? A funny book of failed experiments, a monster in charge of the laboratory over spring break, and a guidebook from Plaid Pete, help students to figure out the parts and have some fun along the way.

Our special part for the concert is rocking and rolling! Some classes are working on instruments and some are creating a dance. These parts can be complex and they're really coming together now! It's so exciting and rewarding for the kids to see how their hard work and effort pay off. Make sure you've marked the concert date on your calendar!
