World Book Day 2023

'World Book Day changes lives through a love of books and reading. We are a charity that operates in the UK and Ireland. We will next be celebrating World Book Day on 2 March 2023. Our mission is to promote reading for pleasure, offering every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own. Reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator of a child’s future success – more than their family circumstances, their parents’ educational background or their income. We want to see more children, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, with a life-long habit of reading for pleasure and the improved life chances this brings them.

Designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, World Book Day is marked in over 100 countries around the globe.'

This year, the people at the World Book Day company have decided only to issue paper tokens to Primary schools. If students and families from secondary schools want a token, they can use the QR code on the PDF below.

I have ordered 50 copies of five of this year's mini-books, limited to one per student whilst stocks last.

This book has been recommended for students in year 9 and above, therefore they are available at the librarian's desk. All students in the Oathall Pride group will receive a copy of this book.
