Senior Scene
This is it! The last few days of high school. Are you ready to graduate?
1….Create a ‘college to do list’. Whether dorm room shopping or finding a roommate, start to figure out what you need to do before you head off to college.
2… Have fun at senior activities. Go to graduation parties, grad night if possible; make those final memories with your friends.
3…Get your health forms together. While shots are annoying, make sure you're up to date on your vaccinations.
4…Make sure you’ve set up your Parchment account to send your final transcript to your college. REMEMBER, your counselor will not be here in the summer to do this for you; it’s your responsibility. Go to: www.parchment.com and register.
5… CONGRATULATIONS, toss that cap ( just be careful you don’t hit anyone) and have a great summer. Get ready for the next best chapter in your life!

Sophomore Stop
College Knowledge: This last month sophomores learned the difference between the systems of higher education and SAT v ACT tests. Students knowledge and understanding between the public and private higher education system increased by 27%. Student understanding of the similarities, difference, and characteristics of both SAT and ACT tests increased by 11%. The counseling department will continue to provide students with information about the college and career exploration process.
Consider visiting colleges this summer and into the fall. College visits for sophomores are a great way to expose them to the different types of schools (urban, rural, large research universities, small liberal arts, etc.) so be sure to visit each type. There is no such thing as a wasted visit. Hearing what your student doesn’t like is just as helpful. Take notes when you see something that sparks their interest and listen to the questions they ask to gauge what's important to them. Debrief afterwards to get their first impressions. HERE is a great resource to get you and your student started on your visits.
