Cougar Courier
Greetings from Dr. Garcia-Groves!
September 24, 2022
Welcome to fall! We are half way to the end of quarter 1 and Parent Teacher Conferences will be approaching quickly. Please mark your calendars for October 27th. Conferences will be from 5:00-7:30 pm.
This week is College Go Week and while our scholars will not be applying to colleges this week, we are still highlighting a variety of college and career opportunities. On Tuesday, our 8th grade PCC classes will participate in a workshop that will expose them to a variety of career and educational opportunities that they can experience in high school and beyond. Our Gear Up Launch will be Thursday, September 29th.
We are having a Spirit Week in order to celebrate College Go Week. Please note that basic dress code policies still apply: no large holes in pants, no crop tops, spaghetti straps, spandex shorts or images inappropriate for school.
Last Thursday, our scholars had the opportunity to be trained in CPR with several other eighth graders from the Michiana area. It was a great opportunity to prepare scholars to save a life!
Our cross country teams participated in the Larry Morning Start race on Wednesday, and it was an absolutely beautiful day to run. They all powered their way up the hill and ran with pride. Our football team defeated Jefferson and are now 3-0. We were also excited to start soccer season on Monday! So many of our scholars had smiles on their faces as they finally got to practice together. Great job, Cougars!
Have you completed your application for free and reduced lunch/textbook assistance? This must be completed every year. Here is the link https://family.titank12.com. We are one of the few states that charge families textbook fees, and this is an opportunity to reduce those fees for qualifying families.
While we embed all of the learner attributes in our daily instruction, each month we continue to highlight one with scholars. October's attribute of the month is knowledgeable.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Blessings,
Dr. Garcia-Groves
