Instructional Highlights
Thank you for helping to make our January Superintendent's Conference Day a success. Our morning sessions offered something for everyone, from instructional best practices to practices to maintain physical strength and wellness and of course the Roc Dogs were a popular destination for staff members to re-center and destress.
Our April Superintendent's Conference Day will offer similar courses for staff, as well as an emphasis on Universal Design for Learning and planning for classroom conditions that support all students and reinforce a warm and affirming environment. Many of the sessions will be facilitated by our own talented staff and we are deeply appreciative of their expertise.
Churchville-Chili Professional Learning Catalog
Don't forget to review our professional learning offerings on Wincap. We have a variety of in-person and asynchronous options to meet your needs. Please check Wincap regularly for new offerings.
Stepping into See Saw (Asynchronous)
Seesaw creates a space for deep, meaningful learning by creating learning journals out of student work and embedding families in the learning loop. What makes Seesaw especially valuable is its ability to capture student thinking out loud. This session will help you understand Seesaw’s workflow as a learning journal and a means of meaningful communication.

CCCSD Action Steps
A team from CCCSD attended a statewide literacy conference hosted by Monroe 2 BOCES. The hybrid event provided New York State teachers, administrators, and literacy leaders with an opportunity to strengthen their knowledge of evidence-based literacy practices in PK-12 education, as educators from across the state came together to focus on research-based practices and the science of reading to support students’ learning and development.
As a result, our Office of Instruction will begin a literacy audit in February to study how our curriculum and instruction support the "Big 6" literacy skills and competencies of oral language, phonological awareness, phonics, comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary, with the goal of cultivating reading, writing, and communication skills that lay the foundation for lifelong literacy. The survey results will help our instructional team of administrators, coaches, and lead teachers prioritize professional learning and instructional planning in the area of literacy.
