This month in math we will finish with our current unit on place value and move back into addition and subtraction of 2 and 3 digit numbers. We will concentrate on our strategies of adding on, counting up and back, and using the numberline. Please reinforce your child's knowledge of Math Facts at home. Flash cards can be a fun way to involve the family! We will use strategies to solve story problems involving multiple steps. We will continue adding and subtracting with money up to $10.00
Reading and Writing
Reading
Reading classes are still working hard to understand informational texts. Not only are we working with questions whose answers can be found "right there" in the text, but we are also tackling higher level thinking questions that require inferencing. To extend this study,we will be comparing and contrasting the main ideas in two informational texts.
Writing
This month in writing we will continue to work with informational texts. Students are learning how and why authors include text features in their writing. We will be writing 'procedural texts' and informational reports on animals.
Cold Weather Reminder
Cold Weather Reminder!
Just a reminder that as the weather gets colder, students will need to have a jacket to participate in recess. If they do not have a coat, they will not be able to go outside on cold days. We want to keep everyone healthy! If students are missing jackets, they are encouraged to check the lost and found!
ESSL Field Trip
Chaperones will meet us at the ESSL building and be asked to lead certain stations within the ESSL. If you are interested in being a chaperone, please look for the permission slip which will be coming home soon. There will be a spot to complete for chaperone interest. We apologize that we won't be able to have every parent that is interested be a chaperone due to limited space. Thank you!
