Hello Dunning Community!
We hope that you had a great long weekend. It is hard to believe that we are entering our seventh week of school!!
Last Wednesday at our PTO meeting, Mrs. Pennie, along with some of our fifth grade students, provided a demonstration of the technology that is available to students this year as part of our genius hour. Students programmed Bee Bots and Spheros balls, and used Makey Makey to play music using everyday objects such as fruit. They also provided a demonstration of Kodable, which we will be purchasing through the FPS Innovation Grant process. Check out the video on the PTO FB page.
This Friday we will be announcing the 2018-2019 fifth grade student council members. We were amazed by how many students participated in the application process. The desire by so many students to take on a leadership role was impressive. While not every student will be a part of the student council, we will be looking for other opportunities to engage our upper grade students in other leadership roles throughout the school.
As always, please feel free to reach out to us with any question, concerns, or feedback.
Enjoy this last little bit of summer weather!!
Ms. Schecter & Mrs. Mulkerin

CARE & SHARE
The Jane Shapiro Care and Share began in 1995 as a Dunning School community service project. Each month a specific food item is collected at the school to help keep A Place to Turn's shelves stocked. What a great sharing and learning project! Donations are gathered up by the students and then with help from staff, they are delivered to A Place to Turn. Learn more about A Place to Turn here.
Thank you for your contributions to A Place to Turn during the year. Our monthly food collection makes a huge difference in our community, while teaching our students the importance of giving.
