SLA-ASIS&T First Meeting
Tuesday, September 10, 2013 @ 4:00-4:30 PM
Please join us!
The student chapter of Special Libraries Association and American Society for Information Science & Technology (SLA-ASIS&T) will be holding our first Fall semester meeting in the LIS diner Tuesday, September 10 from 4:00-4:30pm.
Current or prospective members are welcome; we would love to meet with all of you whether you're an old or new student in the LIS program here at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa!
This is an opportunity to be informed of what benefits being a member provides, and the chance to make your own suggestions (e.g. what special libraries you might want to tour this semester). It is an informal meeting where we can get to know each other and eat treats!
Remember, the fee to be a member is only $7 for the whole time you are a student here at UHM. So if you would like to join, please be prepared with cash, money order or check.
SLA-ASIS&T First Meeting - Fall 2013
Tuesday, Sep. 10th, 4pm
2550 McCarthy Mall
Located in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, the SLA-ASIS&T Student Chapter is part of the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa Library and Information Science Department. Our primary focus is to explore Special Libraries in the state of Hawai‘i as well as learn how Information Technology can better benefit the library system.
Our mission is to expose students to specialized libraries and emerging technologies. We want to provide students with a relaxed environment to explore technology with others who come into the program with little more than a basic knowledge of computing technology and graduate with a strong understanding of skills that will give students a tremendous advantage when students start their careers.
To expose the LIS students to Special Libraries and technology and libraries in special collections by arranging tours in professional settings and inviting guest speakers to present on these topics.
