The Vanguard Kickoff Event is on Saturday!

We are very excited to kickoff the year right on Saturday, August 18th at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center from 9:00-3:00. Over 80% of the seats for the Kickoff are filled! Don't miss out on this AMAZING event. Register in Edivate today! It is going to be a fun-filled day, and don't forget... We've got SWAG and PRIZES to give away! All members should bring their Vanguard iPad to the event.


Let's get the rest of those seats filled and see which learning community represents with the most members attending the Kickoff. Who has the best Vanguard game... will it by SLC, CLC, NELC, or NWLC? #LCkickoffchallenge


Also, don't forget we're expanding the reach of our Kickoff event this year. If your school team has fewer than 4 members, please invite prospective Vanguard candidates to the kickoff so they can see what our team is all about first hand!

Registration Instructions:


  • Log into the Employee Portal
  • Locate the Edivate icon in My Apps
  • Click on the three horizontal lines in the green bar on the upper left of your screen, next to the apple
  • Choose Learning Targets
  • Click on Catalogs
  • You should see a list of the Fulton County catalogs – the first is Human Resources
  • Select the Instructional Technology catalog
  • Choose the class title (click on the word TITLE in the grey bar to sort alphabetically)
  • Click the green plus sign.
  • The class will no longer show under Catalog. Instead, it will be under the Transcript tab


If you later decide not to attend, would you please return to Edivate and remove the class from your transcript so someone else may take that seat.

Cancellation Instructions:


  • Log in to Edivate
  • Click on the three horizontal lines in the green bar on the upper left of your screen, next to the apple
  • Choose Learning Targets
  • Click on Catalogs
  • Click on the Transcript tab
  • Find the training session and click the Remove (Red “X”) button

New Member iPad Pickup!

If you were a new member last year and have not received an iPad, you will be able to get it on the day of the Kick-off! Here's what you need to do:



  1. Register for the Vanguard Kickoff AND Vanguard iPad Pickup in Edivate. (Follow instructions for registering in the section above.)
  2. Complete the FCS Vanguard Device Agreement (below).
  3. Arrive at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center between 8:00-9:00 a.m. on August 18th.

Important!

In order to pick up your iPad, you will need to sign the FCS Vanguard Device Agreement. Please take a moment to review the agreement below. You can either sign it ahead of time or there will be kiosks set up to sign prior to getting your iPad at the event.


Please be aware that if you do not sign the agreement, you will not be issued your iPad.

Kicking Off the Year with a New Leadership Structure

As we have grown, so has the responsibilitiy for managing the Vanguard Team. As a result, this year we are restructuring Vanguard Leadership to better serve the needs of the team. This summer, interviews were conducted to fill three brand new positions on the Vanguard Leadership Team. I am very pleased to announce that Justin Evans will serve as our new Lead Coach and Megan Endicott and Chanel Johnson will serve as Associate Lead Coaches. These new positions, in addition to district support from Mindy Ramon and myself, comprise the Vanguard Executive Committee.


We will also be working to round out the Leadership team with three Vanguard Leads for each Learning Community. The process for identifying and selecting new Learning Community Leads will be developed and carried out during first semester. In the interim, Megan and Chanel will continue to support their learning communities with the rest of the leadership team. The current Vanguard Learning Community Leads are:



  • SLC - Giovanna Allison & Christian Padgett
  • CLC - Crystal Billingslea & Chanel Johnson (interim)
  • NELC - Megan Endicott (interim) & Trisha Myers
  • NWLC - Jennifer Beard, Pam Kelly, & Katie Pardee


School Leads will also have new opportunities this year. We will be forming several committees to manage the work of the Vanguard Team. These committes will be led by Vanguard Leadership and we will be asking School Leads to join a committee.


We are very excited about what this new leadership structure will allow us to accomplish with Vanguard. We are going to be very thoughtfully re-examining many of our processes and procedures and we appreciate your patience as we get things up and running this year!
