School Happenings
GREAT GATHERINGS ARE BACK!
What is a GREAT GATHERING?
Great Gatherings are fantastic get-togethers hosted by Maple Dale families. They give us a chance to socialize outside of our normal school schedule, and raise money for our school at the same time.
You can be involved by either hosting or attending a Great Gathering.
If you choose to host, you can decide when/where the gathering will be held. Gatherings can be open to families, just for adults, couples activities, or be gender or grade specific.
Who can host a GREAT GATHERING?
Anyone can host!
You can host by yourself or with a friend our group.
If you want to host but aren't quite sure what to do, email us at mapledalecarnival@gmail.com. We have lots of ideas from past Great Gatherings events.
How do I sign up to host a GREAT GATHERING?

How do I sign up to attend a GREAT GATHERING?
Come to the Maple Dale Carnival on April 26th from 5:30-8pm to sign up.
All Pro Dads - 4/17
Please join us at the Maple Dale Elementary All Pro Dads breakfast on Wednesday April 17th from 8-9 am in the school cafeteria. This free monthly breakfast is sponsored by fathers, Chick-fil-A, and the PTO.
The UC Bearcat mascot and several UC students will be our special guests!
The meeting theme is about being a courageous up-stander. Negative bullying behaviors are all around us. Many will ignore bullying and just go on with life if it doesn't have a personal direct impact but doing so sends a message that you're okay with someone's hurtful treatment of another person. It teaches children to ignore bullying and pretend nothing happened. This fuels bullying to continue and spread.
If attending, please RSVP by Sunday April 14th via the link below so the correct amount of food is ordered.

Reminders- please do not walk your child to their classroom, please park down at the district offices to free parking spaces for staff members, and please be aware that a school delay or closure cancels the breakfast.

Green Team Tip of the Week
The Maple Dale Green Team is partnering with Crayola to recycle used markers through a new program called ColorCycle. All around school, students and teachers will be collecting used markers that are ready to be discarded. Please help our efforts by sending your kids in with any used markers you may have around the house – any brands. The markers will be sent to a facility where they will be converted into clean fuel. This fuel can be used to power vehicles, heat homes, cook meals and more! Drop-off boxes will be located in each classroom and by the front office. Got used markers? ColorCycle them!

Volunteers Needed - COPE
Sycamore Community Schools is seeking Adult Volunteers
April 22nd - Professional Development Day
The certified staff of Sycamore Community Schools will be participating in a professional learning activity called “Cost of Poverty Experience (COPE)” led by facilitators from Think Tank Inc. on April 22nd. The purpose of the activity is to engage our staff in authentic, empathy-building experiences to better understand the daily struggles some of our families may experience as a result of economic fatigue.
Each session will include 120 staff participants. We are in need of 20 volunteers (COPE Resource Leaders) for each session to “role play” various community and business members. As a COPE Resource Leader, you will be given your role by the COPE facilitator during training. Training will be provided in the first hour of the volunteer shift. The time commitment will be approximately 3-1/2 hours. Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide babysitting services on this day, therefore volunteers are asked not to bring their children along.
