Swansboro Elementary
November 8, 2020
Thanks for another great week at SBES!
Tomorrow our Virtual Scholastic Book Fair will kick off. The book fair will run Nov. 9 - Nov. 22 and is completely online. We will be posting the link on our school Facebook page tomorrow once it is activated. Support our school and help your child discover new books, favorite characters, complete series, and more! You'll love the fun new option to shop for Book Fair exclusives directly from the interactive booklist and enjoy free shipping on book-only purchases over $25.
Tuesday, November 10th is Papa John’s Spirit Night from 4:00-8:00 pm. Swing by Papa John's to pick up dinner and a portion of your sale will go back to our school.
On Wednesday, November 11th there will be no school for students as we honor our Veterans. There will be No Teams live sessions or remote assignments for Wednesday, November 11th. I hope that your family will find time to honor all of the servicemen and women that sacrifice so much for our freedoms. Be sure to check out the flyer below with additional information on supporting our Veterans. Also, it is not too late to complete the Veterans Day activities by clicking on the link below to access the interactive Sway created by our Enrichment team.
This week we would also like to give a shout out to all of our students that earned Principal's List (all A's) and Honor Roll (all A's & B's) for the first grading period. We realize that remote learning is difficult for students, especially elementary students and we appreciate the hard work and determination that these students have shown. We are also extremely grateful for the hard work that each parent has put into remote learning. As a mom myself, I suspect that every family has experienced a few times (or more) in which they would have liked to throw the computer out of the window and just give up. I am glad that we have decided to push through despite these frustrations in order to ensure that our students continue to learn and grow despite the pandemic. Giving up can't be an option as our students deserve so much more! Please keep in mind that we are trying to be flexible and give grace to our students and families, but we also have a responsibility to teach the state standards and prepare students for the next grade level as well as end of grade testing which is still a requirement. We also know that students must feel safe and loved and have their basic needs met in order for any learning to occur. Positive parent and school partnerships have always played a vital role in student success and are even more critical during these times. You are encouraged to reach out to your child's teacher to help us better support your child. Thank you again for your dedication to learning and support of Swansboro Elementary!
Congratulations to our Principal's List and Honor Roll students for the first grading period. We are so proud of you!
