Whitford Catholic Primary School
Newsletter 15 - 29 May 2019
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Sorry Day on 26 May was an important moment to remember the past policies of forced child removal and reflect on the history of the Stolen Generations. On our pathway towards reconciliation, it is important that as they grow, our children recognise moments of resilience, healing and the power of saying sorry.
Reconciliation Week: Grounded in Truth, Walk Together with Courage
We know that reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward in creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This week, we continue to mark reconciliation as part of our story and our future. We thank Mrs Clarke and Miss Gelle for coordinating activities throughout the school and to parents and class teachers in the work they are doing to ensure that our children are becoming culturally aware.
We look forward to seeing our students’ art display of joined hands on the oval this coming Friday.
PP-Yr 2 Cross-Country
The Pre-Primary to Year 2 Cross Country event on our school oval Tuesday was loads of fun and it was fantastic to see how excited our young students were to participate, and participate so well! Thank you to families and friends who came along and to Mr D’Adamo for his organization of the event.
Best wishes to everyone for a wonderful Western Australia Day long weekend.
Many blessings
Tamara McGougan
Principal
