Week 6- Sept 28-Oct 2

This Week's News from the ADE News Crew

Hilliard Horizon and Alton-Darby Creek Elementary schools have been selected by the Columbus Museum of Art and the Imagination Foundation as a site to host a COMMUNITY CARDBOARD CHALLENGE on OCTOBER 10TH from 9:00am-12:00pm.

This event will be held at Heritage Middle School. The following communities to participate: Horizon, Alton Darby, Darby Creek, Scioto Darby, JW Reason, Ridgewood, Crossing, Britton, and Beacon Elementary Schools.

Please check out this short video clip related to how community card board challenges began at:

In this video you will see a little boy who through his imagination and creativity created an entire arcade out of cardboard.

Our Community Cardboard Challenge is not necessarily promoting the creation of arcades...but the creation of ANYTHING during this event from 9:00-12:00 on October 10th. The purpose of this event to is celebrate and embrace CREATIVITY, COLLABORATION, and COMMUNICATION within the community. We do hope you will be able to join us for this fantastic event!

Please consider volunteering! We'd love to have some help from Middle School & High School students!

If you would like to donate items for this event we will need a LOT of:

Packing Tape

Your students can place these items in the BLUE bins outside of the office.

Mumkin Delivery is Sept 30 -- WE NEED VOLUNTEERS :)

Mumkins will be delivered behind the school on 9/30, and we need lots of people to help unload the truck in the afternoon, and help compile orders and load those into cars in the evening. Visit the link to read more and sign up to volunteer.

Fall Parent Teacher Conferences are Oct 5-9th

Teachers are beginning to schedule conference times for our Fall Parent Teacher Conferences which are Oct 5-9th. This is earlier in the school year than times in the past and we think this will be an opportunity for parents and teachers to partner together earlier to support their child.

10/7 is parent-teacher conference night and Alton Darby has a wonderful tradition of providing dinner for teachers on this long night. To help with this event, please follow the link and sign up for any slots you may be interested in helping with.

Fall Book Fair is OCT 5-9th!

The bookfair will take place 10/5-10/9 during Conference Week and we need many daytime volunteers to make this a success.

We are looking for people that are willing to help kids make their wish lists, some to man the registers, and a few to help with setting up, tearing down, and directing traffic. Sign up for slots that best fit your schedule by following the link below.

Box Top Challenge!

The PTO is bringing back the Box Top Challenge, where the classroom that brings in the most box tops and Campbell’s soup labels wins a pizza party!

You can send box tops to school with your kids at any time, the teacher will collect them, and will turn them in as a class on October 15th.

Our volunteers will then count them and get back to you with the announcement of the winning class.

We hope you'll join us in this friendly competition
