GRADUATION REQUIREMENT
Financial Aid Requirement for Texas High School Graduation
In accordance with Texas Education Code (TEC), §28.0256, beginning with students enrolled in 12th grade during the 2021-2022 school year, each student must do one of the following in order to graduate:
- Complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA);
- Complete and submit a Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA); or
- Submit a signed opt-out form.

Alamo Promise Deadline - Feb 28th
Please note, Alamo Promise has an earlier deadline than the state priority deadline. This is only a priority deadline. Applications and FAFSA's will still be accepted through May 1st.

TASFA
The Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) is a financial aid application for students who are classified as Texas Residents but who cannot apply for federal financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) but may qualify for state financial aid through HB 1403 or SB 1528.
Eligibility Criteria
Students who meet the following criteria may be classified as Texas residents, which may make them eligible for Texas financial aid. The criteria are:
- Graduated from a Texas high school or received a GED certificate in Texas
- Lived in Texas for three years before graduating from high school or receiving GED certificate
- Lived or will have lived in Texas for 12 months prior to the census date of the semester in which they enroll in college
- Has applied or plans to apply to become a permanent resident at the earliest opportunity
