Reimagine Me
Information and Call for Presenters
Reimagine Me Information
The Office of Teaching and Learning is currently planning the Reimagine Me conference which will take place this summer from June 11-13.
- Each principal has been asked to select 10 people to attend the conference.
- Participants will be paid $135 a day to attend. Note: this is a correction from recent info shared.
- Day 1 is being set aside specifically for curriculum sessions.
- Anyone interested can attend on day 1 (not just the 10 invited by the principal).
- We are considering opening up day 2 to anyone interested, also. This day will contain general sessions and some subject specific sessions. Day 2 will also be open to our own internal presenters (see below).
- Math sessions on day 1 that we are planning to offer (subject to change) are:
- DESMOS 101 and 201
- Probability fun grades 6-12
- How to get the best use out of ALEKS
- Texas Instruments
- Google Expeditions in math
- Making math easier by taking the math out of math
For the ALEKS sessions, we want to focus on how to get the best use out of ALEKS in the classroom. This is where we need your help. If you are planning on attending the conference and are willing to share how you use ALEKS in your building, please consider being part of an ALEKS session to share out with the group. This does not have to be a formal presentation of any kind. We simply want the session to be a discussion about what you and/or your school does to encourage students to use ALEKS. McGraw-Hill folks will be on hand to facilitate, and we want to hear some of your great ideas, such as:
- T-shirt giveaways
- Lunch with the principal (or pie in the face!)
- Prizes such as water bottles stuffed with candy
- 300, 400, 500 topic clubs and the awards students get
- Students working ahead in class or getting caught up
- Students earning Credit Flex credit
- Using ALEKS for SLOs (awesome!)
- Also, how you use it: rotations, one day a week you get a Chrome cart, etc.
In short, we would like you to sign up for the session to share your ideas... and to get ideas from others. We are looking at having raffles during each session or giving all participants an item. If you can bring students in to share success stories, that would be great, too!
If you are interested in presenting or even just attending to get ideas from others, please let us know at the link below. You are not committing to anything. This will help me determine how many sessions to plan, etc.

CALL FOR PRESENTERS FOR DAY 2
This year's theme is Reimagine "Me" where the entire focus of the conference will be to stretch attendees to reimagine their students as learners and/or themselves as educators through innovative approaches to how to address the whole child and to support teachers with fulfilling the department's vision that "Teachers will teach and students will master the Ohio Learning Standards in meaningful and engaging ways beyond the depth and rigor students are expected to perform and be assessed."
To do this, along with national and local presenters, we want to hear from you! Conference strands include: Blended Learning, Project-Based Learning, Social-Emotional Learning, Student-Centered Environments and Innovative Approaches for Teaching Content. If you have a cool idea, innovative strategy, or an approach to teaching and learning that aligns with any of these strands, our vision, or the Reimagine "Me" theme, help your fellow educators out and apply to present! No idea is too small!
Please submit your idea through the Reimagine "Me" Call for Presenters link below by Friday, May 4, 2018. Proposals may be submitted individually or as pairs of co-presenters. A committee will review your application and make selections based on conference goal alignment and topics needed. You will be notified no later than Friday, May 18. Sessions will be 50 minutes and will be scheduled for Tuesday, June 12.
Presenters will be paid the current hourly rate on the day of their presentation and for two hours of planning. If you are interested in being a teacher presenter, please complete the Google form through the link below by May 4 for each session you are interested in presenting.
Thank you in advance for your submission. We look forward to hearing from you!
