Security Matters
Tips & Reminders
Brief Reminder!
Teachers,
Please be aware of content on your computer and the sets of eyes watching your computer. Teachers and students alike must not compromise the security of their devices. Please keep your computer locked and passwords private; encourage your students to do the same! Below are some quick ideas you can take into consideration in an effort to maintain security of your device and accounts. Please NEVER log a student in with your credentials and NEVER share your login credentials with them.
Locking your Lenovo!
Please do not leave your computer unlocked! If unlocked, someone may access personal and/or inappropriate information on your computer without your knowledge. Your account will then be flagged.
By using the following key combination you may lock your computer and secure your device:
Hold the Windows button (bottom left next to the Alt button) and the letter "L"
Passwords
"Complex" passwords are the most secure! A "complex" password may contain all or a combination of the following:
- Non Alphanumeric character(s)
- A number
- Combination of capital and lowercase letters (Case Sensitive)
Reminders
- Do NOT post your login information for public viewing (i.e. sticky notes on screen, bulletin board behind desk etc.)
- Do NOT create "obvious" PWs that can be guessed and then compromised (i.e. your pet's name)
- If applicable, change your PW every 3-6 months
