Weekly Report
Hello hello! The end of the grading period is creeping closer. It is October 9. Report cards will be available for viewing the following week I believe. (around Oct. 16) Report cards and grades are available online. They are not printed and sent home. If you need help getting online to view any of this, please call the office for a new activation code.
And now....let me fill you in on the return to school. First, please look over Mrs. Davis's newsletter that is coming out today. Slowly I am getting more and more information. I promise to keep you informed. My in-person learners will need to bring their supplies opened up and out of the package and in the supply box. Please look below for specific directions on how to label items and any new things that will be helpful given our circumstances.
Next week teachers will be preparing for student return. We will not be following our Google Meet schedule next week. Upon return, virtual learners will have work posted each day throughout the day. However, we will have all the iPads here now. I am not sure how it will go if I post live meets while here at school. Virtual learners will have to check throughout the day to see if more items are posted. I will be in contact later next week with my virtual learners about picking up more supplies from school. I will try to do my very best. This is going to be difficult.
I have been lucky to have Miss Betustak and Miss Mendoza. Miss Betustak will now be working with ELL (English Language Learners) and we are getting a new aide who will have a completely different schedule. Miss Mendoza is here until the end of October. I will do the best I can. I promise you.
Also, school will be very different for our in-person learners. Kids will be in their desks alot. We will line up in a single line far apart. We will keep our hands to ourselves. They will wear masks in the building all day long except for lunch recess, and Gym. Kids won't be up walking around and talking to friends. Everything will be done slowly and with social distancing practices. Lunch tables will have 3 kids at a table. On weeks we eat in the gym, kids will need a beach towel to sit on. It will be stored in their locker and only used for them. It will come home on a Friday and need to be laundered. Please let kids know of the changes. I will go over procedures with them too. While I am excited, I know the changes are going to be a bit drastic.
Reading--- Our story is called The Upside Down Boy. It is nonfiction. We will talk about figurative language, the prefix dis-, and critical vocab. We will have a quiz on Friday. as usual.
