Mrs. Badgett's Weekly Update

Week of November 16th

Our Veteran's Day program was excellent. The students did an amazing job. Please view the video from Channel 6 news. What an awesome highlight of such a special event! We are still working through PLTW. I love hearing all of the positive feedback from the unit.

We are focusing on main idea and supporting details until Thanksgiving break.

Your child will also be reading a novel, based on his/her reading level, with a small group of students. We are working on answering higher-level questions over our reading by analyzing, evaluating, and creating.

We will also be reading passages. Please reference Canvas to view the articles. There is a link to Canvas below.

We will continue with Unit 5 (Big Numbers, Estimation and Computation) this week. We will also be reviewing decimals. Also, if your child does not know his/her multiplication/division facts, please make sure your child is practicing nightly. We use the app "Multiplication Genius" in class to practice!

We are continuing with our persuasive essays. We have lots of interesting topics. Here are some examples:

-An essay to the HOA of the neighborhood to persuade them to allow tree houses.

-An essay to Mrs. Carter to persuade her to allow students to sit anywhere in the cafeteria.

-An essay to students to persuade them to choose writing as their favorite subject.

Your child will have homework each night. The reading log is due on Friday. Also, MobyMax is a great website for your child to practice at his/her instructional level. The link is below.
