Building Hours
In an effort to further align with the government stay at home order, the Southeast office is now closed. Thanks for understanding the need for limiting our physical presence inside the building.
All of our office staff will continue working from home. We will continue to be available by phone or email throughout the time that our school is closed, as all phone calls are being forwarded to us during the closure. We are happy to assist you, so don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything! Be watchful for the Southeast Star, occasional email updates, and fun ways to connect on our school Facebook page!
Remember, if you need food or supplies (including a distance learning packet), you can go to any of the Park Hill School that are serving food from 11a-1p Monday-Friday. The closest building for our families is Walden Middle School.
Message from Mrs. Deayon & Mrs. Sieminski
We cannot thank you enough for your patience as we've worked to provide your students with distance learning through various online formats. We recognize that distance learning will look different for every family. We understand that each family's schedule and timeline for learning needs to fit work schedules, balance individual student needs and the basic necessities of managing this experience. We know that you are all doing the best you can! Thank you!
This is a trying time for all families. Students are likely picking up on the added tension and anxiety that comes with parenting right now. They are used to the routine that school provides, and they miss their friends and teachers. What kids need most right now is to feel safe and loved. Take time to go with them on walks, play board games, watch movies and enjoy this unexpected time we’ve been given to be with our family. Kids will remember this moment in their lives for how they felt during this time and not how many opportunities to learn they completed in a day.
Don’t worry too much about any regression in school as all of the students are in similar scenarios. When we all return to school our staff will continue to work and problem solve on how best to meet your child’s needs.
As students have now had two weeks of distance learning, please reach out to us with your questions or concerns. We are here to support both parents and students to achieve learning while also taking care of each other.
All our best,
Terri Deayon & Sarah Sieminski

What is Fact Fluency?
Fact fluency is more than memorizing math facts. Fact fluency is a combination of accuracy, speed, and flexibility. Practicing math facts using games allows students to think critically, strategize, and have fun! Students can use Greg Tang Math or You Cubed to develop fluency. When students are fluent with math facts they open their world for creative math thinking. This is because it reduces the memory load and allows students to focus on the problem to solve, not the math facts.
Fluency also means:
- students can compare numbers
- mentally access information
- ability to count from different starting points
- understanding multiple ways to hold a number (10 can be 6 and 4)
- builds phonemic numeration
Practice should be comfortable and flexible, not mindless drills. To build mental math skills students must master fluency (accuracy, speed, flexibility).

Do You Know A Park Hill Star?
The Park Hill Star recognition program was started in 2015 to celebrate support staff and teachers whose work is especially noteworthy.
The following is an overview of the Park Hill Star Program:
Our employees are the reason we are so successful here in the Park Hill School District, and we would like to recognize them for all they do for our students.
That is why we present the Park Hill Star award once a month to a pre-K or elementary teacher, a secondary teacher and a support employee.
Southeast Communication
You will find several ways to stay up to date on school activities throughout the year on the Southeast website , Facebook, and newsletters from your child’s teacher. You will also occasionally get an automated email or voicemail message sent to you by the school with important information and reminders. We know two-way communication is best, so please feel free to call or email with any questions you may have regarding your child’s education.
