October News

We have settled into a groove for the school year. As we continue along, please keep encouraging your student in the expectations while he or she is at school. Our kids are showing up well and behaving well but we are still seeing issues with the willingness of students to work hard. As we talked about before school started, we need all students giving us their best each and every day.

It's that time of year again for chocolate sales. We will host kick off events on Tuesday, October 8 for 5th and 6th grade students. Permission slips will begin going home that day. Chocolates will go home starting on Thursday, October 10. For each box of chocolates, a student must have a new written permission form. A note from home will suffice after the first box of chocolates. Chocolate sales will end on Monday, October 28. To be eligible for prizes and awards, all money must be turned in no later than October 28. All money will go to benefit students at PTMS.

Kona Ice

On Friday, October 11, Kona Ice will be on campus during all lunch shifts. Students will have the opportunity to purchase a Kona Ice while at lunch this day. Students must provide their own money to purchase Kona Ice.

Free Food

The Pine Tree Independent School District will be offering FREE Breakfast & Lunch to all students on the following campus for the upcoming 2019-2020 school years:

Primary School, 1808 Silver Falls Road

Birch Elementary, 815 Birch Drive

Parkway Elementary, 601 PT Parkway

Middle School, 600 PT Parkway

Parents/Guardians will NOT have to fill out a meal application to qualify for this benefit on these campuses. This new approach reduces burdens for both families and school administrators and helps ensure that students receive nutritious meals.

Attendance Reminder

Attendance at school is very important. We understand that sometimes kids get sick and need to stay home. If your child can be in school, please have them here. If your child is absent, please have them seek appropriate medical attention. If your child does see the doctor, please make sure to send the note with them when they return to school. Students with too many absences may be subject to truancy prevention measure.

When a student is absent, a note regarding the absence is due when the student returns to school. We are able to accept doctor and parent notes for absences. However, we will only excuse 5 parent notes each semester. Once that limit is reached, the parent note will not suffice and the absence will be considered unexcused. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation. Every minute counts!!

Late Arrival and Early Pick Up

Students are considered tardy at 8:21 AM. Students arriving after 8:20 AM will need to check in at the front office. After 3 tardies, students will be assigned After School Detention.

The school day ends at 3:50 PM. When a student is checked out prior to 3:50, they are considered to have missed instruction. At 5 early check outs, students will receive an After School Detention.

All tardies and early check outs that are accompanied by a DOCTOR'S NOTE will be considered excused.
