Principal's Message
We had a busy week here at OTES. So many fun activities in the classrooms to celebrate the fall season and Halloween. Teachers do such a great job of connecting these activities to the existing curriculum.
Volunteers: We are always looking for parents, neighbors, and friends to help in our school. We need for clerical work, library support, and connecting with the classroom teacher for support in the classroom is an option too. We have a brief volunteer form that must be filled out and a background check is done at our Superintendent's office to assure student safety. We are always looking for people to support this wonderful school and all the things that go on here.
Next week we have a PTC meeting scheduled for November 6th. We are going to have a presentation by the Second Grade Teachers about their Service Learning Project. Service Learning Projects are a common experience in the school, but we specifically target Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 5th Grade Students for a formal project to build these skills in our learners.
Literacy Night, November 7th: We hope you can join us on November 7th from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm for our Literacy Night. This program has been shaped by our Literacy Staff and the Students at the University of Maine in a literacy course. The University Students use our school as a learning lab for their undergraduate work to develop the necessary skills for future classroom teaching.
