Growth Through Change
I want to take this time to thank all the parents for supporting the efforts of all the teachers and administrative staff at WRJH. We are working hard to keep everyone informed as we become aware of items that alter the schedules of your students.
Please note, we are in this together and we get this this "changing" time frame as a unit!
Testing Week
We will begin our benchmark testing at WRJH next week (9/8-9/11). We have chosen to give the benchmark test virtually for a few reasons:
- Students need to become familiar with online testing. Should we have to return to quarantine and have to take state assessments online, it will be crucial that we have had a trial period.
- Online testing could become the new norm and we want to give our students early opportunities to become familiar with the process.
- Many of our students are choosing to remain virtual, so it will be helpful to learn early how to navigate this type of situation.
Our testing schedule is as follows:
Monday - No school (Holiday)
Tuesday - Social Studies
Wednesday - ELA
Thursday - Science
Friday - Math
Students will test from 8:30 AM – 11 AM in these areas on these given days. The teachers have been very informative with their students about this process all week. Students should be aware that they will miss formal instruction for periods 1 & 2 during this testing time. Upon completion of the test, students will go into their regularly scheduled lunch break from 11:15-12:15.
Please be mindful that students should work on these benchmarks tests independently. It is imperative that we are able to get a clear indication on where they are academically to move forward with the year. What does this mean? Please do not help them and remind them that they should not be researching for answers to questions, but providing their best response to items they are unsure about.
After lunch they are scheduled to have periods 3-6 as normal. The exception to this week is:
We are in the stages of transitioning to our Hybrid model, therefore Wednesday will be set for asynchronous learning. This will be the standard for all Wednesdays moving forward as long as we are in the Hybrid model. What does this mean?
Outside of the testing that will be done from 8:30 AM to 11 AM on Wednesday students will not directly meet with their individual teachers, but instead work independently on any assignments that their teachers are providing them.
Feel free to contact the school should you have any questions.
