Rocks Spotlight
The Rocks Take Back to Back Trips to the Indiana Class 6A Football State Finals
We'd like to officially congratulate the student-athletes, training staff, coaching staff, and all who have contributed to this amazing season! Making back-to-back trips to the state finals is no small feat. Showing your opponent what this team was made of was truly a success! You made Shamrock Nation so proud as we watched you leave everything you had on the field at Lucas Oil Stadium! You have earned respect far beyond the borders of Westfield, Indiana.
We'd also like to congratulate senior Will Strahm. Will was awarded the Phil N. Eskew Mental Attitude Award presented by Indianapolis Colts. Will is a leader among leaders both on and off the field!
We've watched over the years as this team has learned to live out program themes like "Compelled," "Resolve," "United," and "NOW." We remember older themes like "Out Work - Out Play - Out Love" and "Family" that laid the foundation for the culture of this team. We've watched as you honored Robo and Janelle with all your hearts. We've watched as boys have learned to lead and become men of character which is so much more than a trophy. And by watching, we have learned as well.
Congratulations on an incredible season! Thank you for taking all of us along for the ride!

Reminders
Stay Home If You Are Sick
WHS has seen a recent increase in students coming to school when they are sick. We would like to remind parents that WHS Students should NOT come to school if they are sick - regardless of vaccination status. There are a number of illnesses going around (not just Covid). It is very important for ill staff and students to stay home. Students can stay current on classwork by utilizing Canvas when they are absent and assessments can be made up in our Testing Center upon the student's return to school.
Please review the list of illness symptoms on the district website. If your student has ANY of those symptoms- again - regardless of vaccination status and even if they do not have a fever, they should STAY HOME and contact a healthcare provider.
People who are fully vaccinated still test positive for Covid. The Covid vaccine does not necessarily prevent you from getting Covid but lessens the chances of severe illness. Thank you for your help in limiting the spread of all illnesses by having your student STAY HOME when they are ill. That is vital for keeping in-person learning going strong this school year.
For information on symptom screening and return to school guidelines, see the district web page. Questions can be directed to the nurses via WHSNURSE@WWS.K12.IN.US.
Class of 2023 Scheduling Closes TODAY!
Junior students will have until TODAY, November 29 at 11:59 PM to enter their course requests into PowerSchool. Counselors will meet individually with all students from December 1-17 to discuss their requests.
A Surge in Teen Tardies
Over the last couple weeks, we have seen an increase in students coming to school late, especially on our late start Wednesdays. As we face the possibility of some inclement weather as winter approaches, have some conversations with your students to make sure they are planning ahead and committed to arriving on time. I am a big believer that being on time and prepared for a class can help significantly to set the tone for learning.
A reminder that school begins everyday at 8:35 AM except Wednesdays which start at 9:05 AM.
Don't forget to support the WHS PTO!
Our WHS PTO works hard to show our WHS Staff that they are supported and appreciated and it means the world to us! They provided a Coffee Truck and Treats at Halloween and a wonderful luncheon for the staff at the end of Trimester 1! We so appreciate the support of our PTO!
If you'd like to join the WHS PTO and participate in their holiday activities, email WHS PTO at rockspto@gmail.com to be included in their communications.
You can also help out the WHS PTO, by linking your Kroger Rewards card to WHS PTO number (#67591) on www.krogercommunityrewards.com. Kroger will donate a percentage of your spending to our PTO. It's easy and only takes a couple of minutes. Thank you so much for your support!
