Spanish DLI Update & Information
As a reminder, the Spanish Dual Language Immersion Program is a pilot program and will be reviewed during the 2019-2020 school year for sustainability. We are asking all parents to communicate their decision to enroll in the Spanish Dual Language Program for the 2019-2020 school year. If you have completed the DLI Survey, we are accepting this as your communication. Families not interested in this program will be able to attend a named elementary within the Valparaiso Community School district.
Please contact the Parkview Elementary office at 219-531-3110 if you have any questions or would like to know more about the Spanish Dual Language Immersion program.
Kindergarten Round Up
Kindergarten Round-Up will be on Thursday, April 11 at 9:15-10:30 AM or 1:15-2:30 PM (you just need to pick one of the times to come!). If you have a kindergarten student or know of someone who does, please complete the survey on the VCS website (see below) to pre-register the child. The child must be 5 on or before August 1, 2019. Kindergarten Round-up will begin with a group meeting during which time you will hear from Mrs. Wodetzki (principal), Mrs. Sunday (nurse), Mrs. Clifford (secretary) and Parkview Kindergarten Teachers. Please bring your child that will be entering Kindergarten. An assessment will be available to identify readiness skills.
You will also want to bring:
A copy of your child’s birth certificate
Current immunization records
Proof of residency- 4 Forms with Current Address (Driver License, Mortgage/Lease agreement, 2 mailed bills (ie utility bill, water, cable bill, etc.)- Complete list is available on the website.

Arts-A-Budding
We would like to congratulate our young artists, Rose Stevens (Kindergarten), Savannah Bennett and Fiona Barger (2nd grade), and Danni Fisher (5th grade), for their entries into this year's 44th annual Arts-a-Budding. They have demonstrated excellence in Art and have been taking great joy in their creations. Congratulations! We have another art event to look forward to that is approaching fast - the 2019 Spring into the @rts Festival! This event will span from April 11th to May 18th and will feature student work all around Valparaiso. Students selected for the festival will be receiving a letter to take home within the week following Spring Break."

Upcoming work days will be communicated via Class Dojo. We will have work nights to prepare for the night activities as well as the decorations. These work nights will be after school in the evening at Parkview and kids are not allowed. We will need many hands to be ready for May 10th! We hope you will consider joining us and helping out! Be on the lookout for these on Dojo!
Grade 2 STEM Club
Attention 2nd graders! STEM Club for 2nd graders will be starting on Wednesday, April 10th. It will be after school from 3:15-4:15 every Wednesday for 5 weeks. Notes are going home the third week of March for sign-up. Club is limited to 20 students. We will be experimenting with a different STEM activity each week! You must send back your sign-up form to be a part of the fun! Mrs. Jones

Field Day at Parkview this year is Tuesday, May 28. If you are interested and able to give your time that day, from 10:00 AM-2:30 PM. please sign up online with www.signupgenius.com. Spring into the Arts

Please mark your calendars for ART-astic opportunities + experiences for our community April 11- May 18th! This is our 4th consecutive year celebrating the arts in our month-long, district festival, which is free to our community. Each event is student-centered and showcases a specific art form through student exhibits and/or performances. *REMINDER to all students: The deadline for "One Minute to Film It" submissions is Saturday, April 13th at midnight. Feel free to visit our film festival page for information + contest rules. This year we have a special category entitled "May the 4th Be With YOU". ANYONE (students, staff, family, or the public) is able to submit 60 second films into this Sci-Fi themed category. Our goal is to present Go-Pros to our 1st place winners in each category at The Valpo Film Festiv@l on May 4th! So go it SOLO or gather your ALLIANCE, but start creating!
