The Reform Movement
The Reform Movement was a period of American history where certain people saw that our society had some issues in equality. They decide to do something to change those issues.

Dorthea Dix- she saw the harsh treatment of mentally ill women, she did lots of research on them. the report changed the way people took care of the mentally ill.
Elizabeth Cady Stanton- her mission was to show people that girls were equal to boys.
William Lloyd Garrison- He was a writer who wrote about very controversial topics.
Frederic Douglas- when he was little his dad traded him to go work on another farm and Mrs. Auld taught him to read.
Harriet Beecher Stowe- Harriet Beecher Stowe was an American abolitionist and author.
Sojourner Truth- Sojourner Truth was an African-American abolitionist and women's rights activist.
Harriet Tubman- Harriet Tubman was an African-American abolitionist, humanitarian, and Union spy during the American Civil War
Horace Mann- he fought for public education for other people and towards the end of his life he became a part of an association that was dedicated to fighting for education
Lucretia Mott- Lucretia Coffin Mott was an American Quaker, abolitionist, a women's rights activist, and a social reformer
Susan B. Anthony- Susan Brownell Anthony was a prominent American civil rights leader
