From the Principal's Desk...
Dear Parents,
Thank you for your participation in D39's first "Remote Learning." The temperature on Wednesday and Thursday was the coldest I've ever felt, and I'm so glad that our students and staff were safe in their warm homes. Our “Remote Learning Days" even got some media attention. In fact, our very own Bruso family was interviewed by NBC along with Dr. Lechner. Here is the link of the coverage: https://t.co/pg0FDXzLvu?amp=1. If you haven't already, please indicate your child's participation/attendance: https://goo.gl/forms/4JCVjbva6rhaWGj43. Also, please take a minute to complete a survey on our "Remote Learning Day" that was created by the district office for parents: Remote Learning Day Survey for Parents. We welcome your feedback since this was a pilot and we would like to reflect on the experience.
Thankfully, the temperature is already warmer and our students are back into their academic routines here at school this morning. As a reminder, today is an early release day (grades 1-4 are dismissed at 11:55am) so staff can work on report cards together. Report cards will be viewable online to parents starting this Wednesday, February 6th.
Have a wonderful weekend,
- Becky

Valentine's Day Reminders
We are looking forward to celebrating Valentine's Day on Thursday, February 14th. We encourage children to share valentines with each member of the class. However, please do not attach candy to the valentines. This is a safety precaution for students with food allergies and other health needs. You may attach fun trinkets such as stickers, pencils, tattoos, erasers, etc. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe!
Report Cards
Teachers are busy preparing report cards for all of our students. Report cards will be accessible to parents online starting Wednesday, February 6th at 9:00 am. To access report cards, navigate to https://ps.wilmette39.org and sign in. If you do not remember your user credentials, use the "Forgot Username" or "Password?" link. If that doesn’t resolve your issue, please contact Sallie or Cathy in the front office. If you have not accessed report cards before, an email will be sent to you early next week to explain the process and help you create an account. I'm attaching two pdf documents (How to Read the Report Card and Behaviors that Promote Learning) for your reference when reviewing your child's report.

From the Nurse's Office
Call Central School "Attendance Line" For Absences: 847-512-6150
Please call the Attendance Line to report absences even if you let the classroom teacher know, because some teachers don't see the email/voicemail until later in the day. Teachers assume you are calling the office. It's important that the school nurse is directly aware of any absences otherwise, your son/daughter may be considered "missing." The school nurse keeps track of all school absences in the building. For safety reasons, we want to make sure all of our students are accounted for and safe.
