CIS Weekly Update
#8: October 11-15
PRINCIPAL MESSAGE
We are down to just a couple of days left in the first quarter. Report cards will be coming home a week from Friday. Thank you for all of your efforts to check Progress Book and help your student be successful.
As you may know, there is a school levy coming up on the ballot for November 2. For more information please visit our school website to view the 2021 Community Levy Information.
You can find a slide presentation that will highlight all the details.
We are excited to receive $15,000 for technology at CIS. This will enhance our students' experiences during technology time and will make for some great learning experiences. We are very fortunate to have great support.
Have a SUPER week!!

PICTURE RETAKE DAY OCTOBER 20TH
CAVANAUGH PHOTOGRAPHY - OCTOBER 20TH RETAKE DAY
Picture Packages have been received and will be passed out early this week. IF your student needs a picture retake, please see instructions below from our photographer:
1) If your student was absent on the first picture day (Sept 14), there will be an ordering site available so you can order online. (You can enter your district site here: i.e. wadsworth.cavanaughphoto.com) Or, if you placed an order before the first picture day and didn’t realize your child would be absent, it will be honored.
2) If your student wants a retake, you must bring back the original picture packet that was ordered. Or, if you only ordered a hi-res digital file, please send a note in with your student stating that a hi-res digital file was purchased. If the packet or note is not returned, a new package will not be printed until the original is turned in. Original photos will be coming home before retake day.
3) If your student wants a retake AND you did not order the first time and do not plan on ordering in the future, then all YEARBOOK ONLY retakes are $5.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach us at 440-973-4390 or info@cavanaughphoto.com
TikTok CHALLENGES
The Ohio School Safety Center (OSSC) has learned of a new October social media challenge that impacts Ohio schools and, specifically, staff and educators. Some TikTok users have devised a monthly list that includes various pranks or “challenges” to take place at school. For example, in recent weeks, there have been incidents of school vandalism as part of the "devious lick" challenge. The challenge encourages students to slap a teacher or staff member and run before being caught committing the assault. The incident must be also be filmed or the challenge does not “count.”
Unfortunately there are TikTok challenges for other months. I've attached a picture of a list of other possible TikTok challenges. If these challenges make their way into our school then we will be forced to hold students accountable for their actions that break our school code of conduct. Please talk to your child(ren) if you feel it is necessary. THANK YOU!
END-OF-DAY CHANGES

COVID-19 & ILLNESS AT CIS - CHANGES MADE OCTOBER 1
Effective October 1, the following change will be made to the quarantine guidelines followed by schools in Medina County (the rest of the flow chart remains unchanged):
If a student meets the criteria of a close contact from exposure in a school setting and the student is not fully vaccinated or was not wearing a face covering during the period of exposure, the student will be permitted to stay in school if the student wears a face covering during the quarantine period (provided the student continues to be symptom free). This change only impacts the ability of a student to attend school, it does not apply to extracurricular activities or other situations that are not school-related.
