A note from the teachers...

Dear Parents,

Please let your child's teacher know if your child will be missing any school next week. The grading period is coming to a close and all work needs to be completed by Friday.

As a reminder, we have our Vision and Hearing Screening on Tuesday. Please check with your child's teacher for their time if you plan on checking your child out early that day.

Have a great weekend!

Art Update

It's time again for the Annual PMES Art Club Exhibit at the Hamilton Mill Library. Our exhibit will run from 12/4/15 - 1/5/15. We hope you and your family will stop by and see the Letter Art Exhibit from our awesome 4th and 5th grade Art Club members.

What are we doing next week?

  • Reading – Students will be working on a variety of skills with our read aloud book, "Winter According to Humphrey". This will spiral in many skills that we have worked on in the first half of third grade, including: characters, setting, predicting, point of view, parts of speech, cause and effect, prefixes, connections, and sequence of events.
  • Writing – We will wrap up our informational unit.
  • Word Study/Spelling - We will not have spelling words next week.
  • Grammar - In grammar, we will continue to learn about adjectives and how they can be used to make our writing more interesting.
  • Math – We will be finishing up our area and perimeter unit. The test over this unit will be Thursday. When we return from break we will begin a unit on geometry.
  • Social Studies - This week, Student began learning about maps and globes. We will continue this unit next week. During this unit, students will learn about different types of maps, parts of maps, lines of latitude and longitude as well as the location of several rivers and two mountain ranges. We will not have a test over this unit. Students will be completing a small group project here at school that will count as a test grade. The small group project presentations will be on Wednesday.
