Scholastic Book Fair
Thank you so much to everyone that supported our Scholastic Book Fair! The kids were very excited to have the opportunity to come in and shop during their lunch recess times. It was a record breaking year! Our sales reached over $10,000, which means that we added more than 1,160 books to our school community and we also earned over $5,000 worth of additional books for our classrooms and our library! A special thank you also to the PTO, staff, and parent volunteers who helped make it a success. They made the book fair not only possible, but also successful. We couldn't have done it without your help!
If you missed the book fair in person, there is still time to shop our fair online. Visit our book fair online at: https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/mountainbay
The online book fair is available until November 13th.
Holiday Help Guide
Health and Wellbeing of DCE Students
Dear D.C. Everest Families,
As you may be aware, American youth continue to face a mental wellness crisis across the nation. The health and wellbeing of our DCE students and staff remains a top priority and we are working diligently to expand conversations around wellness and engage our students, families, staff, and community in those conversations.
We recognize that when our students have a sense of belonging at school — and, importantly, at least one positive relationship or connection with someone at school — it can play an important role in their success. To help us ensure each student feels they are a part of our #EverestPride community, DCE Student Services is hosting YOU MATTER Moments with all 4K - 12th grade students between October and November. Our goal is to help students realize how much they matter within their school community and how important they are to our broader community. We also will help them identify someone they feel they can connect with at school and who they can turn to for support. These positive YOU MATTER Moments will occur during the regular school day throughout the month. Examples of YOU MATTER moments include station activities focused on creating a picture of themselves and how they feel they belong, participating in mindfulness activities, viewing a student lead video at the secondary levels, and many more. We encourage you to talk with your students about these activities.
To complement this program, our Wellness Wednesday Tidbits for the month of November will focus on self-management and the importance of taking responsibility for one’s own behavior and wellbeing. We will share coping skills with students (such as deep breathing or walking), discuss how to reach out to a trusted person, and provide students with an opportunity to show gratitude to others.
Opportunity to Get Involved
We value the engagement, feedback, and partnership of our families and the integral role your support plays in the success of our students and District. DCE family members are invited to join our new DCE Wellness Advisory Group, which will meet on a monthly basis starting in January 2023. The group will host open conversations concerning student wellness, offer wellness training opportunities, and generate ideas and plans to collectively support our students. If you are interested in joining, please complete the registration form here.
As always, we appreciate your time and consideration and look forward to partnering with you to address student wellness.
