READ-A-THON 2022
Mountain View School has decided to hold a Read-a-thon this year!
Read-a-thons actually get your reader excited about reading and it gives friends and family the opportunity to encourage your child to read even more.
Our Read-a-thon starts Sunday February 20, 2022.
About one week before our Read-a-thon starts we will send home instructions on how to activate your reader's personal page. This is where you will be able to view and record their progress.
We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/elZsAP/1 and following the simple instructions.
We've chosen Read-a-thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read and helps in the development of stronger reading skills.
We hope EVERYONE participates.
Thanks so much,

Winter Fun with Learning
Message from the Principal
We made it- a week without snow days or delays! The CAP program on Bullying continued this week in grades 3-5 and it was well received by the students. Our third grade students are participating in the Footprints program that teaches them about appropriate peer relationships and conflict resolution. Link-it assessments are now complete. We will be using this data to plan WINN groups and plan for the specific needs of our students. We will be following up with PSPs and Reading assessments throughout the month of February.
A few of our fifth graders planned a contest for the 4th and 5th grade classes. They would like to hold a "Great Bulletin Board Wars." Thank you for purchasing lollipops this past week. The students in grades 4 and 5 will use SEL time to plan their bulletin board theme. This will be done the last two weeks in March and the theme will be April.
We will be celebrating "Two's Day" on 2-22-22. The theme of the day is the number 2. It also happens to be Digital Learning Day. Students will be partnered up with another student from a different grade level and together they will chose which activities to do.
The MOPD has been walking around at arrival and dismissal to reinforce appropriate parking and crossing on Clover Hill Drive at arrival and dismissal. This is to ensure our students, faculty and their families are safe. Please be sure to follow these procedures: The doors open at 8:26 am. Please do not arrive to school earlier than 8:20. For our walkers entering through the Main Office doors, please wait on an "X" each morning. This will avoid the " mad rush" through the doors and keep students at a safe distance. Please do not drop children off on Clover Hill Drive. The car line is in the Linwood lot. Please do not cross Clover Hill Drive anywhere but at the crosswalk with our crossing guard. There are cones placed in front of the sidewalk alongside a "No Parking" sign in front of the building. You cannot park by these cones, or move the cones to park. As referenced by the "No Parking" signs across the street, you may not park there at arrival or dismissal. Please use the curb in front of school, our parking lots or Linwood Ave if you are going to park and walk your child to school. I greatly appreciate you following these rules and keeping the safety of our school community as our top priority! Please note, the gazebo lot is open for Handicap only. Students will still utilize this area for recess while the grass is muddy or snow covered. When parking at arrival, please park on the streets around the school. The parking lots are for faculty and staff members to park.
Enjoy the weekend!
