Krimmel Knights
Newsletter: 3/4/2018
Reminders for Parents and Students:
- When in the Krimmel driveways and parking lots, parents please follow the marked reminder for speed zone limits, as well as being asked not to use your cell phone. There could be a monetary fine. We ask you to follow these guidelines for the safety of our students, parents and staff in these areas. Thank You!
- When parking to enter the building or dropping off items, please do NOT park in the driveways as these are marked emergency lanes. Please use one of the Visitor Parking spaces.
- Students are allowed in the building starting as early as 7:45 am but will need to report directly to the cafeteria for Homework Help.
- Students are expected to remove all head coverings and hoodies when they enter the building. We are having more and more issues with students not following this rule, please help us emphasize this expectation through conversations with your child at home.
Moving?
If you are moving from Krimmel to another school over Spring Break please see Ms. Wilmes in the registrar office across from the clinic. You can also call her at 832-375-7141. Thanks!
#KeepKleinSafe as we Keep Krimmel Safe
In addition, at Krimmel Intermediate, we are working hard to update our processes and procedures. Last week, we provided another round of "Run, Hide, Fight" training for all staff on campus.
During QUEST on March 5th, teachers will review our campus procedures with all students in their classes about what they should do in case of emergency or active shooter situation.
On March 7th, students and staff will participate in a drill that will focus on the "hide" part of the "Run, Hide, Fight" process. We will continue to readdress each part of the response cycle to make sure our students and staff are prepared in case of emergency.
Lastly, for the last few years, we have had an online reporting tool that students can use to report concerns to school administration. We often tell our Krimmel Knights, "if you hear or see something, you need to say something!" Students and parents can access the forum here.

Rezoning and Commitment Letters Mailed Home
Below is an excerpt from the information we have received regarding the grandfathering process:
SCHOOL CHOICE GUIDELINES
2018-2019
(Current Sixth and Seventh graders and siblings)
On February 12, 2018, the Board of Trustees approved the new attendance zones affecting intermediate schools. Current sixth and seventh grade students who have been rezoned to other intermediate schools may elect to stay at their current intermediate schools if the parents provide transportation. In addition, a transfer will be granted for younger siblings to attend the same intermediate school.
1. School choice must be exercised by Friday, March 23, 2018. This should be accomplished by signing and returning the form to Krimmel Intermediate.
2. Once the choice is made and the form returned, the agreement will be binding through the 2018-2019 school year. Changes after the March 23, 2018, deadline will be considered on an individual basis.
3. Sixth and Seventh grade students who have been rezoned and elect to stay at their current intermediate schools, along with siblings attending the same school, will not be provided transportation by KISD.
4. The above school choice option affects only sixth and seventh grade students who are currently attending Krimmel Intermediate School. All incoming sixth grade students will attend the intermediate school established in the new attendance zones, unless they qualify for a sibling transfer.
5. If the new intermediate attendance zones result in a family simultaneously having children zoned to two different intermediate schools, a year-by-year transfer will be granted in order for the younger siblings to attend and complete the eighth grade. The transfer will renew automatically each school year after the initial application.
