MPC Youth

A Weekly Newsletter

Thought for the Week

"Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall." -- F. Scott Fitzgerald

As of 4:21AM on Wednesday morning, at the moment of the autumnal equinox, we officially entered fall. Fall brings the "real" start of school, cooler weather, sweaters, football season, and pumpkin flavored everything.

We begin a "new year" in the fall as we make plans and resolutions to do things differently this school year. We make a conscious effort to be diligent in school, finish homework early, work a little harder at practice, and maybe pick up an extra shift at work. We want to make a good impression and get into a good routine as we start the year.

As you build up your new routine and get settled into the rhythm of this busy fall season, I encourage you to make time for your church family. If you haven't already, you will find that it is hard to balance everything you want to do. Life truly is a balancing act. The trick is finding those people who will help you stay steady and I know you will find that support here at MPC.

We welcome everyone: those who are here often, new faces, distant friends, and those who are trying to find their way back. Join us, as we begin a new year together.

- Liz

What is this?

As we begin a new year, we want to provide as much information to you in the most streamlined fashion possible. In these weekly newsletters, you will find our most up-to-date schedule, information about church and community events, and other, miscellaneous, additions. If you want to provide content for the newsletter, email Liz.

Youth Group Survey

We want to know what you think about the youth group! There is a survey linked below where you will be able to provide anonymous feedback about the program. The more information you provide, the more we can tailor programs to your interests - we can't do that if we don't know what you're interested in.

This is just a formal way of obtaining your input - if you have suggestions, questions, or concerns please feel free to contact Liz!

This year, Liz will be using a secure, text message based platform called Remind to send out communication. This program is free to sign up, however it utilizes text messaging, so if your phone plan does not allow for that or you would rather receive updates via email, you can do so.

Follow the directions below to enroll in the program via text OR email. This will allow us to communicate with the group without sharing phone numbers. Even after you sign up, no one can see your phone number and all text messages will come from the same, secure phone number.

Many of you already have Liz's phone number and it is available for anyone else who wants it - please continue to utilize that when you need her! Remind, however, allows for privacy for everyone when we are communicating with the whole group.

Follow the instructions below for your age group and answer the questions that appear to set up your free account.

There is now a calendar on the wall of the youth room. Right now all it has it the dates and times for church events. We would like to use that as our master calendar for all of your games, performances, and concerts!

If you have an event coming up please feel free to add it to the calendar, email Liz with the information, or submit it using this form. We'll include those events in this newsletter and in other church publications.

Youth Groups of Media Presbyterian Church

Media Presbyterian Church considers ministry to Youth and their families to be one of the most important ministries the Church can provide.

The Youth Ministry programs at MPC has long been a place that welcomes teenagers to embrace their questions and their struggles with faith in a healthy and safe environment.

The Youth Program is led by Ms. Liz Remelius, Director of Youth Ministries. Liz nurtures a deep love of education and believes that there is "a divine beauty in learning." She hopes that anyone who participates in MPC's Youth Ministry will be equipped to ask questions, search for answers, and turn that knowledge into action, both in the Church and the world.
