Chromebooks Update

We greatly appreciated your patience today as we handed out almost 800 new Chromebooks to our Juniors and Seniors. Any student from any of grade level on Rotation D only may sign up for an appointment with Mr. Wilson to exchange your Chromebook during one of your class periods. You must have an appointment and the request link can be found on the Ardrey Kell Website. More appointment slots open up each day.


Park in the front traffic circle and meet Mr. Wilson at the front entrance. Please have your old Chromebook, Charger and any AK student ID. If you do not have a student ID, then that is OK. You will receive a note from Mr. Wilson with the date and time on it. In order to be excused from a class and be marked "present" you must show your teacher the paper by turning your camera on and holding the paper up to the during your video conference call (Zoom or MS Teams) on that day or the following day. You will only receive ONE note and ONE excuse for ONE course. You are NOT allowed to miss an entire day of school. Any student that tries to use the note to show all their teachers will be marked Absent.


Students on Rotation A through C will receive their Chromebook while at school. Please bring your Chromebook and charger to school each day UNTIL you receive your new Chromebook.

Transportation Information

This is Dale Adair, 10th grade Assistant Principal, calling with an important announcement. I would like to take this moment to say hello and I hope you and your families have remained safe and healthy during this time.

This message is to help assist those of you that may have not received or who do not know your transportation information. If you know for sure that you are registered and are assigned to ride a bus, you can get your bus transportation information by going unto the Ardrey Kell homepage and click on the Parent/Student Information and Resources to the left of that page.

From there, click on Bus Information and you will be able to type in your Student ID number and access Transportation Information regarding your bus stop location, bus number, arrival and departure time of the bus assigned to you.

If transportation is needed, an Online Ridership Request will need to be submitted. Please also keep in mind that if you are just completing your ridership form this week, you will not have transportation immediately. Parents will need to be prepared to arrange transportation for your child for a day or so or until an update has been made through the CMS transportation office.

Athletic Booster Scholarship

Athletic Booster Scholarship:
If you are a senior athlete interested in apply for the AK Athletic Booster scholarship please listen... there are awarding ten (10) $1,000 Scholarships in May 2021. Applications are available now to all Seniors. The deadline for scholarship applications will be

These scholarships will be awarded to AKHS senior student-athletes based on "Excellence in Academics", "Excellence and Leadership in Athletics" and "Contributions to the AKHS Student-Athlete Community". These scholarships will assist AKHS student-athletes in paying to attend a 2-year or 4-year college in the fall of 2021. Please note: You or a family member must be an active 2020-21 AKABC member to be considered by the AKABC Scholarship Selection Committee. It is NOT too late to join and memberships is specially priced at only $10 this year! Each scholarship is paid directly to the recipient's college or university in the Fall of 2021. Students who receive full scholarships are not eligible. Questions can be directed to akabc.scholarships@gmail.com.

Best Fit College Discussion

Social Studies Honor Society

Yearbook

The yearbook staff needs your help! While traditional underclassmen portraits have been canceled for this year, we are still going to have underclassmen photos in the yearbook. The yearbook staff has created an easy process to upload student portraits to our book. Students will pick any current photo or selfie that fits our portrait guidelines and upload it to our servers! Please refer to the PDF available on the AK website under the announcements tab to easily upload your child’s portrait. We encourage every student to participate and claim their spot in the yearbook. We already have close to 500 pictures and we can’t wait to see that number grow! Portraits are due by March 8th

AP Capstone

AK is proud to offer the AP Capstone program for a second year! AP Capstone™ is a diploma program based on two AP courses: AP Seminar and AP Research. These yearlong courses focus on developing the critical thinking, research, collaboration, time management, and presentation skills you need for college-level work.

The Capstone program is interdisciplinary and is great for first-time AP students and those wanting to develop a collegiate-level academic skill set that can be used to succeed in other AP courses. It is not too late to register! Contact your counselor today. Check out this video

AK Theatre Program

Calling all poets, storytellers, and artists! This Spring, the AK theatre department is going to be presenting a visual storytelling event and we need YOU! We will be working with guest artists and student leaders to devise, write, create and visualize our unique stories, culminating in a celebratory film. We want as many voices and stories as possible to represent our unique school culture here at AK. National CTE Month

February is National CTE Month so what better time than now to recognize our fabulous CTE students who earned an industry recognized credential this past fall. Considering students have been learning via remote instruction, this is quite an accomplishment!

Spanish Honor Society

Attention all students who were in Spanish 4 honors, 5AP or 6AP last year or are currently enrolled this year. Latino Youth Empowerment Summit

Friday, March 12th, 10am

CMS is partnering with the Latin American community in Charlotte to deliver the Latino Youth Empowerment Summit (LatinoYES) for CMS high school students (10th, 11th and 12th). This enrichment opportunity enables Hispanic/Latin American students to learn from Latin America business executives, community leaders, and employers in a culturally relevant environment. The summit also provides direct access to:

  • Employment and career opportunities
  • Leadership skills development
  • Scholarships and college information

This year’s summit will take place on Friday March 12, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. at via Zoom.
