INTRODUCTION
Florida coral reefs came to existence 5,000 to 7,000 years ago when sea levels rose following that last Ice Age. Florida's coral reef system resembles a barrier. Also more than 45 species of stony corals and 37 species of octocorals are found along Florida Reef Tract.

The staghorn coral is found throughout the Florida Keys. Also, it grows rapidly and abundantly.
star coral
The star coral grow in many small colonies.The star coral is found in Florida, and many other places.
elkhorn
Elkhorn is called that because it resembles elk antlers. This type of coral is found in the Florida keys and expanded along the peninsula.
